War of Tripoli, or First Barbary War...which ever you prefer. It was in 1801-1805 and was fought jointly with Sweden for the first year against Ottoman Empire "regimes" in North Africa who were attacking American Merchant ships.

I dont believe that Congress ever passed a formal declaration of war.

That was the war of Stephen Decatur, the old day Rambo ;)

Super late to the Archer bandwagon, but it's pretty hilarious. Watched Season 1 this weekend with the bf.

Awesome show.

I thought that was a pretty poor SNL, though the line "My daddy used to sell Wikipedias" had me in stitches for some reason. Liked the Weekend Update comments on the Arizona immigration law and the bit about Girl Scout Cookies (seriously, why can I not buy Thin Mints year-round? what a weird business model); did not like the Digital Short at all, and I normally love surreal humor.

BTW, I did see Episode 2 of Dr. Who. I can say that Matt Smith and Amy Gillan are a great pair. (I am a sucker for red-headed Scottish girls.) I think the show is doing really well. I still miss Tennant.

How did no one mention the Mexican-American War? People chosing to forget that we actually fought for Texas? If so, I'll jump on that bus.

I have buddies that are Marines that had no idea about the Barbary War until I told them. That is ridiculous, seeming they reference it in song all the time.

Top Gear has fast become my favorite show. Even if you're not into cars you should give it a chance.

Always forgotten...as is the American-Phillipines War in 1899...why does everyone hate the troops??? :mad: ;)
