TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Dumb ESPN question.

I haven't watched anything on ESPN since Oberman was on it. I always see wall to wall ads / clips etc of Stephen A. I think he is, and this is a very low bar, the dumbest person to ever do sports commentary. Plus his shtick is pure shock and idiocy. I know he has many, many haters.

Is that why he is so heavily promoted? People hatewatch him? What the fuck is the eyeball draw?

From what little I've seen and heard from him, I'd say the hatewatching is pretty spot on. Basically the same deal Stern had going on.

So far enjoying a few episodes each of S2 of The Night Manager as well as S1 of Ponies. My only gripe is I'd like to once watch a spy thriller than didn't include the cliched government traitor trope in it. There's got to be more inventive ways to explore the genre. It doesn't take away from either series but...

I'm stuck with ESPN at work.

Whitlock still makes appearances, but he's not on as much as SAS.

Bayless and Cowherd are gone.

McAfee is annoying, but doesn't have that "i want to punch him" factor.

The Muppet Show is back for a 50th anniversary special on February 4th. Sounds like this also an attempt at a pilot to bring it back as a regular series, with Seth Rogan being behind the push.

maybe this episode was funny to those not living in a goddamn invasion?

a deeply unfunny show. maybe it's just the terrible writing.

for a character who played a revoluntionary in a talked about film this year, what an out of touch, unfunny monologue, too.
The only thing I thought was mildly entertaining was the commercial for toys for One Battle After Another.

It was a poor episode with a weak host. Hopefully it will not be a pattern.

Yeah all the host could do was give funny facial reactions to stuff, otherwise fell flat. And she flubbed every fourth line. Cold open should have been reworked to something more serious. I don't dislike the Trump cold opens as much as people on other forums seem to, but this was less of a week for jokes there; yes it's a comedy show but they've gone serious on the open before when needed.

None of the new cast members are working. Chubby guy's bit on WU suuuuucked. I think there's another generic white guy but I can't remember anything he's been in. Polish girl is annoying and has a very punchable face. Token black guy is token black guy. PDD guy should just be in PDD; if they're going to have to other PDD guy occasionally in pre-recorded bits, just do PDD.

Oh and while I get Jane Wickline's bit and somewhat enjoy it, look at her bio, she's is the nepo-ist of nepo-babies to ever nepo.

“Token black guy” is actually a pretty apt description for Kam Patterson considering he’s a Kill Tony regular.

Jane Wickline, daughter of Marcy Hardart, a former assistant to Lorne Michaels.

I liked the weekend update bit, but because of the keyboard.

Again, not saying she's bad. Heck of a lot of the nepo-kids in entertainment are decent and entertaining, and if they're straight-up bad they'll fall by the wayside over time, but in an industry where there are 10x more adequately talented people than there are openings, that foot in the door can be what ultimately matters.
