ESPN's purchase of NFL Network and other league digital assets has been finalized after government regulators approved the transaction.

The NFL and ESPN officially announced the closing of the deal Saturday night after the Justice Department and other non-U.S. antitrust authorities completed their reviews.

ESPN acquired NFL Network, NFL Fantasy and the rights to distribute the RedZone channel to cable and satellite operators, and the league will get a 10% equity stake in ESPN.

So, they have the NHL, MLB, and now NFL?

Great, can't wait to be nickle and dimed even more.

Just to have all the local sports it was costing me $150 a month. I'm done with that. There is no payoff anyway.

Wonder Man. Found this one by accident and I had no idea what to expect, but it's been excellent. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley are great to watch, and the writing has been the best for anything Marvel in a long time.

It felt.... familiar? Comforting? I haven't watched them since they were in re-runs while I was growing up, but last night felt like they picked up and ran with the same show.

A lot of modern reboots seem to fail at capturing the alure of the first go around. Maybe the time gap helped? Maybe its remembering that the Muppets aren't Sesame Street and also go through adult situations?

I loved it. And I hope this launches into a successful run.

Agreed. I was so surprised by this. I read something on this, and it looks like it went through production Hell before it was allowed to be completed after some of it had been made.

Maybe the delay was to incorporate the mutant aspect to lead into their new X-Men movies, and the dev/prod story is out there to make it feel like some sort of happy accident.

I had the same thoughts. I hope this is what they were looking for, and with Seth Rogan as Executive Producer I would certainly think so, because that’s exactly what The Muppets need. Disney has been trying to reinvent the wheel with The Muppets for decades when all anyone really wants is “just do The Muppet Show!”

I had the same thoughts. I hope this is what they were looking for, and with Seth Rogan as Executive Producer I would certainly think so, because that’s exactly what The Muppets need. Disney has been trying to reinvent the wheel with The Muppets for decades when all anyone really wants is “just do The Muppet Show!”

I liked The Office style reboot that ran about a decade ago, but I might’ve been the only person watching based on ratings. But I think the variety show aspect is the best way to showcase everyone and break things into 2-3 minute segments versus something like Muppets where they had to build on going storylines for their lives outside the talk show.
