TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Just heard of the new series Mobland. Tom Hardy, Guy Ritchie, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren? Yes please.
Saw a trailer for that while finishing up Reacher. Was a bit confused with the accents and then the title….do the Irish refer to that gang of theirs as “the mob”🤔💁🏾

Final episode of Temptation Island S2 was a let down.

Starting now on Love is Blind: Sweden. The kink is apparently they are older and look like normal humans, not boobs-on-a-stick.

I have never seen either the movie or the series Twin Peaks. No spoilers, please. Should I watch the movie first?
The show was made before the movie, so....

And if I remember correctly, the movie uses the show as the foundation (even though, it's technically a prequel), so there would end up being spoilers in the movie, not to mention a bunch of quizzical looks from the viewer.

No, no, no a thousand times no.

The movie completely spoils the tv series.

You can safely watch the seven episodes that make up season one, and then season two up until Laura's killer is revealed. Then you can watch the movie.

And then choose or not whether to continue. So far, the rest of season two has not been good, although I hear it picks up by the end. I've heard good things about The Return, but have yet to get to it.

Fun fact. Twin Peaks was supposed to be a limited mini-series. Season one was supposed to be it. In Europe, season one was released with a different last episode which wrapped up the whole mystery nice and neat in a typical whodunit style (they actually tacked it on to the end of the pilot episode they sold in Europe).

Not sure you're completely correct on that. In Europe, it was the pilot episode that had the extended ending, filmed because if it didn't get picked up as a series, they wanted to be able to release it there as a movie and recoup some costs.

Also not sure of season one being all they intended, because, quite the cliffhanger, and all of the open threads just left hanging. Not sure when in production they may have gotten the go ahead for a second season, but I do know producers were adamant that the who killed Laura plotline get resolved, and fairly quickly.

Yes. Thanks for the correction.

I'm almost positive it was meant as a one season mini-series. It was so popular, the network renewed it in time for the ending to be changed because back then they never filmed everything all at once.

Did anyone watch Common Side Effects, the new Adult Swim show? I watched in on Max (may be available on other platforms). I went in expecting a bit more humor based on the one teaser clip I kept seeing. There was some dark humor here and there but it had a much darker and more serious tone than I was expecting. But it was actually very good.

Premise is a guy has discovered a hallucinogenic mushroom that can cure anything and everything, nearly instantaneously. Of course pharmaceutical companies don't want that and they use connections with the US gov to get the DEA on the guy (as well as their own hired goons). As the guy tries to figure out how to grow it outside of where he discovered it in Peru, he also is trying to better understand how it works and, the possible long term effects. While dealing with his own "allies" who have their own plans for the mushrooms and trying to stay alive himself as he is hunted by the DEA and the pharm company.

Season 1 ended on Monday (it has been renewed for season 2) and set up things nicely as we see the power of the mushroom but also realize there is more there than we understand and some of the potential side effects may be catastrophic.

It’s a Mike Judge show, so it definitely fits with his past works.

Haven’t watched it yet but I will give it a try.

He is a producer and provides a voice, but didn't create and is not listed as a writing credit. He had some input on story and pacing it sounds like, but to me, it sounds like they are pushing it as a "Mike Judge show" to help generate views, which I can't fault them for really. Greg Daniels is also a producer.

One of the creators, Joseph Bennet, I am not familiar with his limited list of other works. The other is Steve Hely who was a producer on VEEP, The Office, and 30 Rock and wrote an episode or two of those shows as well.

The character Judge voices sounds a little like Butthead and a little like Hank Hill. Somewhere between there. It was kind of odd at first as the voice of Butthead didn't really fit the voice of a CEO, though he is a bit of a buffoon.

Am I in the minority that I liked season 2 of The White Lotus better than season 3? I guess we have the final episode yet to go but I just don't see it getting there for me.
