TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

The first 2 episodes of The Bear season 3 were quite the artistic choice back to back. I can see why some may not like it but I enjoyed it! It pushed it though...

I have to say, I'm really enjoying The Acolyte. I'm an absolute sucker for Star Wars, but that doesn't mean I think it's all great.

The Acolyte isn't great, but it's settled into the "really good" category. I know the whiny culture war idiots have review bombed it, but reading what's written (or talking to my brother) indicates that they haven't watched a second of it.

It's a good show. If you like Star Wars and want to see non-Skywalker stuff. This is it. SW has teased the "Jedi aren't all good" subtext since the prequels officially and in book form for even longer. This is really leaning into that, and I'm here for it.

Agreed. I’ve enjoyed watching this mission and the various conflicts, both fighting and various internal struggles. Also, it has Jason from The Good Place. The guy may or may not have a niche for his roles, regardless of that, he plays it very well.

Yeah! I like the casting, mostly. I'm awful with actors names so I'll just say that the portrayals of Sol and Qimir and Stecky (spelling) were outstanding. Osha/Mae has been uneven but decent, and the rest are also pretty good. I like the diverse cast, and how they managed to make it diverse without falling back on idiot tropes. Let the culture warriors bleat. This is a good show.

Still not a comedy, though.

(Haven't started S3 yet.) For a comedy it's the goddam most nerve-wracking comedy ever. I can never watch more than one at a time, not because it's not great, but because I'm always on edge about what the characters might do.

I wont lie, I laugh a lot watching this season...but not because it is a comedy because anyone who has worked in a restaurant knows recognizes what is happening and it hits them. We are through 4 episodes and its crazy how much is done and said in such little time. This season is like 1 long version of the Christmas Episode the tension is so high.

I just found out there was a second season of The Lazerus Project. First episode of season 2 aired last November. I was afraid this was a one and done.

Watching the second season premiere streaming on Sling's free tier.

Classic writing trick. Use comedy to help bleed off tension and then slowly rebuild it, because the building of tension is what is so compelling, the peak is unsustainable.

Every show or movie does it now. It's so formulaic in blockbusters, MCU, and SW, you can predict the number of beats between laugh lines. Bear is great because it's written well (except Clare Bear) and does it unexpectedly and with wit and heart.

Aww crap, and only the first episode is available free. Looks like I might have to shell out some cash.

So found out I can watch The Lazarus Project on demand through my cable provider. So re-watching season one to refresh my memory for season 2.

Taking a lot more in this time, picking up more of the dialogue through the accents. And realizing just how well-written this thing in, with some really witty moments interspersed among the drama.

House of the Dragon S2E4 was a beautiful thing to watch. Many incredible shots. As for the subject matter in this one, rats. I knew what was coming, but it’s still such a bummer.

Has anyone seen started watching either Elkhorn (about Teddy Roosevelt’s self-imposed exile to the Badlands) or U-Boat Wargamers, also a true story about members of the Women's Royal Naval Service who helped combat then German U-Boat dominance and win the Battle of the Atlantic?

We just started The Bear. We were warned about its intensity multiple times. I still wasn't fully prepared.

Two episodes in and we both enjoyed it quite a bit.
