TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

I didn't like it that much. it was ok, which is what I gave it.

I'm about 5 episodes in and I love it. Yeah, yeah, it's dumb; of course it's dumb. How you gonna get on the tube if you're not dumb? But after a few drinks it almost has a sense of gravitas to it. You're not getting Heike Monogatari * produced for a derp American audience. Take what you can get. This is almost palatable, and that makes it a f-cking 9.

The knell of the bells at the Gion temple
Echoes the impermanence of all things.
The color of the flowers on its double-trunked tree
Reveals the truth that to flourish is to fall.
He who is proud is not so for long,
Like a passing dream on a night in spring.
He who is brave is finally destroyed,
To be no more than dust before the wind.

Seinfeld was on SNL this weekend for a brief part of Weekend Update. He was… not good. I don’t know if he came up with the bit himself or if they wrote it for him, but the premise had no chance of working and the execution was even worse.

Even if it was going to work it would be tough...the SNL crowd is not going to give the benefit of the doubt to a guy who went on a rant about Woke Culture ruining comedy and movies. Poor multi-hundred millionaire can't handle his movie is likely to underperform.

I like Seinfeld, but between that and the posting for pictures with the IDF he is turning into an old Jewish Joe Rogan...

That was so cringe. At first, I thought it was gonna be a mea culpa about his comments earlier about woke culture ruining tv. Poke some fun at yourself, laugh, move on.

instead it was…whatever that was

The writers put as much effort in that bit as anyone would into the entire rest of an episode where you have noted actress and comedienne Dua Lipa performing what you write.

Hey don't insult Dua Lipa that way. Its not her fault SNL sucks and has since forever :p

The POP Tart movie is getting horrible reviews. It appears to be a movie that isn't funny in general but is funny to other comedians.

YouTube TV has been rolling out an “enhanced” picture feature with a better bitrate. Some people have had it for a while, but only on certain platforms. It looks like Roku got it yesterday because ESPN looked way clearer than normal, so I checked and it was 720p enhanced. Fantastic picture. Go to TNT and picture is somehow worse than ESPN. Check and it’s just regular 1080. Go to BTN and that looks great, 720 enhanced. Check another channel that’s usually 1080 and that’s still regular.

Not sure why I’m only getting half the upgrade, but it’s nice ESPN will look crisp going forward. Don’t think this will fix the ABC affiliate looking terrible though, that’s always been a far worse picture quality. Some of the sports on there feels like watching a YouTube video from 2008.

I am so pleasantly surprised at how a gentleman is Moscow turned out. I would have thought it was a beautifully done story if I’d never read the book.

ewan macgregor once again makes magic. I can’t think of anything he’s in that I didn’t enjoy. I don’t watch Star Wars so don’t come at me.

as good as the book?of course not but one of the better adaptations I’ve ever seen

It was meh. It commits the dual sins of being neither all that historically factual, nor all that funny despite the creative license taken with the plot.

Hollywood tends to crawl up its own as-s and retrieve turds like this from time to time. Given that it's Jerry, I'm not surprised this would be extra bleh.

They should have gone for it, starred Kevin Spacey, and had it produced by Harvey Weinstein.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit saccharine at times given the setting and time period, but not enough to ruin it for me.

I just saw a commercial that Sylvester Stallone’s show Tulsa King that was on Paramount + last year (or so) will be on regular CBS starting in July. Happy to see that. It looks interesting. CBS has done that before. They showed The Good Fight s1 which was actually the first series on CBS All Access (which morphed into Paramount +).
