It's easy to pad out one's routine when it's 50% pauses for shocked reactions to your edginess that never actually came. The Shelby Foote / Ken Burns thing was actually very good, it just took him half the monologue to get around to actually doing something.

Am I the only person who liked his monologue?

He was playing the audience, getting them up to the line of discomfort, like Kaufman or Norm. He isn't as good but they were giants. He is trying to do something unsafe and I like the attempt.
