TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

MASH, yes. MTM, yes. IIRC, Lucy is great until around the time they return from California and it gets rapidly dull and played out after that. The vast majority of the best and most classic episodes and scenes are in S1-S3. But IMO, if you aren't into physical comedy it's not a show for you at all.

I will standby my opinion that Friends was godawful then and is still godawful now.

Psych works because James Roday was so great at playing a smug, obnoxious doosh foiled by Timothy Omundson's stern, uptight, by-the-book cop and Corbin Bernsen's ship captain, no-BS, tough love father.

Yeah friends has not aged well, but outside of chandler at times, it wasn’t that funny.

Remembering Phyllis, I looked up Cloris Leachman, who I vaguely (and correctly) remembered as a young pin-up with a great pair.

I came across this quote from a Bob Saget roast:
Cloris Leachman's ti-ts are so old, one says Whites Only and the other says Coloreds.

Just getting to this, but your list fails without Community or Cheers. Or Friends, too. Or going farther back, MASH, Mary Tyler Moore, and I Love Lucy.

For your deeper cuts, Chuck, Better off Ted (all 1.5 seasons of it), Wings, Psych, and Monk.

Haven't seen much of community. What I saw I thought had moments. But I've heard there were several brilliant seasons after the first. So I'll get around to that.

Pretty much most everything before the mid 90s I just never clicked with. Someday I'll give MASH a shot. Never cared for ILL.

pretty much all of the USA comedies fell very flat for me. I've tried them all and just couldn't get into them.

I'll give Scrubs another shoutout. That was one of the few non-sports shows I'd make an effort to watch back then.

Oh God, how did I forget about Night Court (the original, not the remake)? That definitely deserves to be up there.

Oh I forgot about Arrested Development. It's.. fine? I've only gotten through the banana stand episode. It just didn't click like Parks & Rec did.

I 1,000% agree. I never could understand the Friends popularity. It was the most unfunny comedy show I've ever laid eyes on. (And in case anyone is wondering, I did like Cheers and loved Seinfeld.)

I think Ross may be one of the worst and least funny characters ever. And I’m still puzzled as to how we were supposed to find Joey funny

S1 Mythic Quest

Not enough people know this

“dinner party” is one of the funniest tv episodes I’ve ever seen

“The ideal number of nazis is zero”

patriots fans vs nazis in the “worst people in the world” bracket

Almost every character in that show could have been done in a single episode each over a 13-episode series run. It's the same joke over and over.

Jerry: what's the deal with ______?
kramer: hey Jerry guess what insane thing I did?
George: I'm an incel who occasionally gets laid
Elaine: ?????
Newman: NEWMAN!

There were like three episodes I liked. The parking garage, shrinkage, and the marine biologist.

I mean, you could do that with a lot of shows, and especially Curb.

Larry: Here’s a social convention I’m against.
Cheryl: Sigh, Larry…
Jeff: I agree, but I can’t agree in front of other people, especially my wife.
Susie: Larry, you asshole, get the fuck out!
Leon: Kramer retread

I don’t disagree with your premise, but I’ve always described Curb as Seinfeld if George had money and lived in LA. They go hand in hand for me.

Yes. There is so much in the show that is hilarious.

Backstory and A Dark Quiet Death are also incredible episodes, and for genuine drama too.

S1/S2 are genius. S3 is cringe. S4 is coming and I assume it will be doghs-t. It's too bad; I thought McElhenney was self aware enough to avoid tarnishing his art, but I thought Roiland and Harmon were too.

Kep you're wrong a lot, but super duper wrong about Modern Family.
Modern Family definitely grew on me. I know at first I didn’t like it much but I’ll be darned if it didn’t grow on me. Ed O’Neill is great obviously but everyone in the cast has great moments.

Community was good for about 2 seasons. Then the self indulgent side of Dan Harmon came through, they leaned into the meta way too much and it got stupid fast. The gimmick got tired. The pillow fights were the only good episodes later on.

Arrested Development should have stayed dead...the Netflix revival ruined the show imho. Honestly though season 3 wasn't all that great either.

Counterpoint: no.

Meta was not a gimmick, it was the whole show from S1E1 on. It just took some people a while to catch on and say wait, I'm not supposed to like this cuz wah elitism make tummy hurt. But Community is a vicious show about hating on the stupidity of the average person, and that is what makes it great. Every main character in the show is a vain, shallow, empty vessel, each in a different way. It's brilliant because it does not spare anyone. Glover's character is my favorite because in any other show of that vintage he would be a quiet hero or cool but instead no he's just a dope.

Community was wonderful for 4 seasons. S5 got boring when they started making the main characters less awful and then S6 was simply bad. The last 2 seasons do tarnish the memory of the show, fairly, like everything Harmon touches eventually turns to sh-t. But make no mistake -- it was outstanding for all 4 years precisely because it took no prisoners and never slowed down for the derps.

Harmon hates you and me and everyone else here; accept it. Every show he has ever made has as its central message how much he despises us. The only person he hates more is himself, because at least there was something to work with there, before he blew it.

That's the joke.

He doesnt...maybe watch an interview with him some time. (Like a long form one) He is just a depressive self hater who likes sabotaging stuff.

As per usual you are just reading way too much into something that isn't as clever as you think it is.
