TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

I enjoyed Dead To Me on Netflix.

I liked it too. In season one, there were two episodes where Christina Applegate’s character was wearing a BU t-shirt. I always wonder how things like that happen. There was no mention of her character going to school there, and she has no connection to the school. Loved seeing it, but I am always on the lookout for context.

So, the past few months I have become increasingly obsessed with Law & Order. They’re bringing it back this February. Sam Waterston is reprising his role as Jack McCoy (yay!) and Anthony Anderson will be back as Detective Kevin Bernard. Of all the cast members of the last season, he was my least favorite. Jeffrey Donovan has been cast as the other detective. I luuurrved him in Burn Notice, I am cautiously optimistic about him. Hugh Dancy has been cast as an ADA. So, given that they’ve hired a white British guy for that role, it means that Linus Roache isn’t coming back, since he’s also both white and British. They won’t need two. I’m heartbroken about that as he is currently my TV boyfriend. They’ve hired a beautiful Egyptian actress as the other ADA. Two members of that last cast are currently on another Dick Wolf show (one of the FBIs on CBS). S Epatha Merkeson is on yet another Dick Wolf show (Chicago Med). Camryn Manheim has been cast in that police lieutenant role. I like her but would prefer to see Lt. Van Buren back. I’ll still watch and I hope it’s good.

Damn….Season 4 of Cobra Kai is great! My favorite just ahead of season 1. I did not see the ending coming but the character arcs of Johnny, Daniel, Sam, Robbie and Miguel are all top notch.

Book of Boba Fett. Meh. I love Star Wars to the end but the first episode gave me nothing to care about re any of the characters.

I liked Episode 1 of Boba Fett despite having every intention of hating it. It's the same formula as always but it the lead has charisma and hey no anti-vax POS this time.

Also liked Cobra Kai 4.1. Johnny is one of my favorite characters on teevee; Daniel can wax off.

I’m also not a fan of Daniel in this series. An arrogant entitled prick almost incapable of change and Johnny is learning, growing and is at heart a really good guy. I’m looking forward to what happens next.

I’ll still watch Fett. I have 0 idea where that will end up.

Sure you do. Every Star Wars arc is the same. Can't move product if you confuse your demographic. But I might just watch it for those lovely stills at the end of the episode.

I am finally watching The Good Place.

For some reason, "I lived a medium life, so I deserve a medium place. Like Cincinnati." has me rolling.

It's annoying watching Danny not be able to grow AT ALL but the writers get it correct then in showing his kids have so far both turned into pieces of s**t.

I mean, that may be the whole message in the end. The lazy, racist, sexist guy is trying, while the go-getter, inclusionary ally is insulated from self-criticism and so acts smug and doesn't change.

Now, that's a lot to ask of a teevee show, let alone a popular one, but it really would stand the moralistic tropes of the last fifty years on their head and be a devastating critique of Audi Liberals.

I think it is more that the story is told through Johnny's eyes like the Karate Kid is told through Daniel's. That is the best part of Season 1 is how you see the same events the other way and how with just a small twist of perspective Daniel is the interloper loser hell bent on destroying Johnny who is just a whiny teenager overcompensating for a cruddy family life.

Honestly Daniel is what Johnny would have been (a local celebrity that really never grew up even if successful) had Daniel never showed up. Daniel being there bottomed him out. The show has added layers of depth to a story that is just your basic boiler plate "Good Guy vs. Bad Guy" scenario.

Season 3 when Allie showed up and they ended up all at a party together was an A+. Plus the fight scenes are well done!

I gave E1 of The Cleaning Lady a try. The actress playing the protagonist is quite good but I'm not sure if this going to be better than your average Hollywood pap or not. I will give E2 a go at least.

I did the same. Not sure if I season pass this or not. Will depend on ep 2.

Meanwhile I am still only about 6 episodes into Only Murder in the Building but it's excellent, and I really think Steve Martin is a brilliant actor. And Selena holds her own which I would never ever have imagined. She's legit.
