Good Lord. None of you have ever disliked a show that other people you know liked?

Not liking it is one thing, even if it reflects poorly on one's taste, because obviously nothing is everyone's cup of tea. There are people out there who hate the Godfather or Shawshank or MASH, for instance. They're all wrong, of course, and showing signs of genetic defects or other impairments, but no one's perfect.

What is getting you the reaction you're getting is calling it "awful," which implies more than personally subjective distaste.

The latest Star Wars offering on Disney+ (Ahsoka) may be the best thing they've ever done. Already. Don't screw it up.

Interesting. Most of the clips I've seen look atrocious. Obi Wan bad. The fight scenes in particular looked really bad.

i can't put my finger on why this looks so bad (the grey to start with) but it must be something to do with the perspective on the green screen. It just seems really flat and obvious it's on a green screen. Which is something I can't really remember being so bad with any of the Star Wars media.

I think what makes it worse is the slowness and mediocre choreography. It allows your eyes to wander and brain to recognize these flaws. They're probably there in mando and other series but they're executed better so you don't have the chance to see and digest them unless you're actively looking.

This is a troll right?

I thought Obi-Wan was great and all of it is in the same mold as Mandalorian.

Obi-Wan was horrible and my son (the much bigger SW fan) agreed. He has been more complimentary of Ahsoka which gives me hope that it won't suck.

BS High on HBO/MAX is worth a watch, especially if you have an interest in sports and the money associated with sports. It's an hour and a half documentary on the Bishop Sycamore "fake high school" fiasco from a few years ago. It has a sociopath and brazen criminal as its centerpiece and principal talking head, which makes for an interesting character study. However, I can't help but thinking that it could have benefited from a more experienced and talented filmmaker, like Alex Gibney.

I disagree. The story is bananas and the documentary worked best being film in a less polished way. I felt like I was one of his players as I watched.

And yeah that coach is a sociopath. The principal is either a complete moron or a full enabler.

Watching Lucifer for the plot again, and by plot, I mean Lauren German and Lesley Ann Brandt.

I'm straight and even I know the only reason to watch Lucifer.

I don't know. I just thought they got too enraptured by the guy and his con. They missed too many good threads. A reputable filmmaker is going to get interviews from the church, from more of the parents, from the Ohio High School league, etc...

I mean I send my kid to a "prep school" and I'm not even the least bit curious as to where the building is located where he attends classes, or why he doesn't have any books, or why he doesn't get a report card, etc??? Makes no sense.

The investigator for the state hinted early on about how many different people in the media or elsewhere were made aware of this scam, yet never followed up until after a couple of ESPN play by play guys, who are so low on the chart that they got assigned a high school game, spent three hours complaining about BS?? Where are the interviews with those people? How about the coaches whose teams played BS?

I don't buy the whole "_________ refused to comment." That's part of the skill of an excellent documentary filmmaker.

I don't need to hear why Johnson thinks it was ok to dodge some hotel bills.

By this measure, the only reason to watch The Witcher is Henry Cavill?

Kinda. But in my very straight opinion it's just not the same.

Kepler is right, assuming he's not saying it's a trash show. I really liked that show and Ellis dragged that show from network trash to very watchable. It got a bit boring but the dude can only do so much.

I just got to The Raid in S1 (E4, "Who Goes There") of True Detective. Holy f-ck. The only time I have seen the America of the bottom 50% presented honestly in media.

The show is so well written and acted and shot, and is so incredibly depressing. This will be a primary source for future historians' research into Post-Reagan America.

Dave S2 E7, Ad Man, is such beautiful art I had no idea what it was about until the final minute.

What a great show. It is such a pleasure to be present and aware during the Golden Age of television.

Limited series on Netflix - blue zones- now ones

big fan of Dan and his work here- I’ve worked with him on a few things. Fascinating to learn about the ways in which these enclaves he’s found have long life longevity
