TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Mrs. EoDS and I are two episodes in. Definitely enjoying it so far.

The lead actress Tatiana Maslany, she's doing an amazing job giving either completely different performances or providing nuance where it's required. I can only imagine how difficult her job is in relation to other actors on set.

The very basic premise, for those who don't know Orphan Black, from IMDB:
Orphan Black follows outsider, orphan and street-wise chameleon Sarah. After witnessing a woman's suicide, Sarah assumes the strangers identity - who happens to look just like her. Expecting to solve all her problems by cleaning out the dead woman's savings, Sarah is instead thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery as she realizes the dizzying truth - she and the dead woman are clones. As Sarah searches for answers, she discovers the chilling fact that there are more people like her out there - genetically identical individuals who were planted in unsuspecting birth parents and nurtured in completely different circumstances. With no idea who created the clones, she'll need to discover the reason in a hurry as an assassin is killing them one by one.

Watching house of cards season 2 - about five episodes in. Can a show jump the shark in under 1.5 seasons? Things have gotten kinda ridiculous.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Is anybody here watching Orphan Black on BBC America? I just finished season 1 last night, and I'm pretty much hooked. It's a fairly original twist on the ominous bad-guy-coming-to-get-us plot.

You're lucky to just be finishing it now in that you don't have to wait for the second season. The S2 premiere on Saturday was incredible.

I'm going to watch that episode tonight. I don't get BBC America at home, so I bought a season pass on Amazon.

FINALLY got around to finishing the season of Justified. Interesting development with Ava becoming a CI, and of COURSE the one thing that could keep Raylan from a happy life in Florida happened.

Ink Master:

That non-elimination was unexpected, although with Kyle's departure last week, they had a bonus week overall, I suppose. Jay's "tracing" allegation was a bit off, IMO. I get the sentiment, but having 2 tatts of things that were specifically taken from photos that I chose...I have to disagree with him. You could give me a Michelangelo or Dali piece and a palette, and I'd make that thing look ugly as all hell, because I can't paint. Same with tattoos, in my mind. That being said, I thought Scott's tatt was weaker than Melissa's, and Jay's was the worse, even with the allowance that his client was a complete beech.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

On Blacklist, are we supposed to know why Tom was targeting Lizzy and I missed it? Everything we've seen so far suggests it would have nothing to do with Red - especially since he didn't enter her life until well after she and Tom met. Perhaps he was in her life well before she knew it and/or the unseen photo from the safety deposit box will be the reveal next week?

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Noit was always about Red IIRC that is why Red knew about him and is so keen (no pun intended) to get him. Obviously whoever Tom works for figured Red would come to Lizzy at some point. I dont think Tom knows why but his handlers most likely do.

I don't know, while I think Jay has a point as to original artwork, it wasn't exactly tracing. So many aspects of the images used as inspiration stayed in the final tattoo that it's tough to say parts weren't traced. Meanwhile, the Samurai's arm, which was changed from the original image, was all messed up in design/execution.

The Americans:

That ep got dark. Quickly. IMO, I'm thinking on red herring on Philip cracking. I think Elizabeth will crack.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Now I'm at work, and can expand on my Fargo, the TV show experience a bit.

I thought that Billy Bob Thornton was excellent in his role, as was the lead lady cop. Some of the others didn't nail the accent perfectly, but I thought Martin Freeman got it right. I didn't mind the bullying scene, because it was pretty integral in the story. I'm interested to see how they incorporate Colin Hanks more, given that he's in Duluth, and all but about 3 minutes of the episode took place in Bemidji. Trying to not give any spoilers away....the scene with the hammer was excellent, in a bit of a morbid way. The look on Lester's wife's face was priceless!

Mad Men:

Great. Betty's back. That's just wonderful.

The rest of the episode? Holy awkward. And well played by the partners vs Don. This should be interesting.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Anyone looking forward to Under the Dome coming back? Haven't decided if I'll watch. Haven't read the book but can't see a good story arc they could use for the season that looks all that great.

I still can't believe they made a drama out of The Simpsons' Movie.

Late with this comment, but you are correct, things did get very ridiculous. Not sure if you've reached the ending or not yet, but the way they seem to be doing each season it looks like this will only last three seasons like the British version. That or the fourth season will be so out there that it won't even be fun to watch.

Agreed. Given that this was one of their first "original" series, I'm sure they wanted to hit it fast and hard, in case it failed. Given the success, I'd imagine future series will be geared more towards the 5-7 season range.
