Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Agreed.

New Ink Master and new The Americans start up this week (Tue/Wed, respectively). Can't wait.

Awesome, I didn't know about Ink Master starting up again. Hasn't that been more of a late spring/early summer start to the show in the past? I don't really remember at this point.

As for the Americans, I just finished watching season 1 on Amazon (free stream for Prime members) in order to get ready for the new season.

I don't watch SPIKE other than that show, just happened to come across the info. And it's the right time; I remember, because it overlaps the Justified (FX) series at the same time, so I have to OnDemand Ink Master the next day.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Would someone be willing to give me the quick spoiler recap of season 1 of The Americans? I quite watching after about 5 episodes, because I didn't really care for it and there were plenty of other shows I was watching at the time to keep me busy. Shortly after I quit DVRing it, it seems like it started to really pick up steam and started to create buzz. I don't have time to go back and watch season 1, but I may start up with season 2 again, if it seems interesting to me.

Hannibal starts up again this week, although you might not know it given I haven't seen one single promo yet. Is their network not expecting it to last?

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Justified:

- I love how even when Raylan and Co. are thrown into a simple "bad guy of the week" case, it's still kind of thrilling to see the inner dynamics of the office. It's a shame that Tim and Rachel are as under-utilized as they are, but it really does make you appreciate their limited screen time all the more.
- Halfway through the season, and Boyd already has dispatched pretty much all of the main foes he had at the beginning of the season. All that's left really is his slow journey towards needing to kill Daryl and Danny Crowe, and figuring out how to get Ava out of jail.
- Speaking of which: Johnny Crowder died the most Johnny Crowder death imaginable. Even in his death he gets the short end of the stick.

Psych: Chief Vick and Jules are going to San Francisco; Lassiter is the new chief.

Can't wait to see how they're going to wrap this up.

Have I missed something, or since when have Shawn and Jules been back together?

Also, sounds like I really need to watch my recording of The Americans.

They have been back together since last season.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

So Red Reddington distracting the guard by launching into a two minute long "Gay man drama" routine might have been the most fun I've had watching a television program in the last year. Just the latest scene to show why the Blacklist is a top-3 choice for your viewing pleasure. You can hate on James Spader for being just another version of 'James Spader' again, but there's no one who does it better.

I have no idea how they are going to wrap up True Detective in 2 more episodes, but I have a feeling that these next 2 episodes are going to be really **** intense.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

This thread (comment) is worthless without pictures.

Watch the episode on demand, either on FX's website or your TV provider's utility. I'm not Mr. Skin so I'm not going to screen capture the show.

ETA: Keri Russell was basically buck naked on screen, her backside showing in full, and informant cupping her breasts. Later there was a shot of opening onto a couple doing the 69 position, but you don't see as much there, really; it's the context that surprises you that time.

That was awesome! Since it is such a great show though chances are NBC will cancel it or move it to Sunday afternoons ;)

True Detective question:

It is pretty obvious that the lawmower guy is the guy with scars is the guy Marty and Rust are looking for, is he the Yellow King? It sounds like he is the illegitimate kid of whathisname (the reverend's father), but then I expected the Yellow King to be someone a little more....ummm, impressive, than the guy mowing cemetaries. Another question, was that the same guy mowing as was mowing the abandoned schoolyard? I was sure it was when I watched it, but how did Rust not notice the scars?

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

True Detective question:
And my half-idiot answer.

I think it was a different guy mowing the lawn, and I do believe that he is the Yellow King, a drawing of the scars being confused as a scraggily beard by those who see it. That earlier guy, the one who Rust met in '95, I thought, was thinner than this guy they revealed last night and had a whispy beard. If it was the same guy and I'm just deluding myself, then he might not have seen the scars because when he originally spoke to him, the left side of his face was toward Rust because of the way he was sitting on the mower.

To the point of the man being more impressive, I think it makes sense that he keeps a low-visibility job. Keeping out of the spotlight is how you avoid being caught, but he still gets around enough to be able to scout for victims.
