tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

That's BS. I'm not a Sioux fan and I hate this. The hit was possibly a charge, but not worthy of a suspension. It was the kind of hit that we all cheer in the stands, the kind of hit that revs up a team and changes the momentum, and the kind of hit that is taught at all levels of the game. Martin had his head down, something that will lead to injury more often than not. Even Martin called Malone to tell him that he didn't think the hit was dirty (one of the classiest moves I've ever heard of in sports). I wish those in positions of power would get off their high horse and stop acting like they don't earn their salary by promoting a physical sport where injuries, even serious ones, are inevitable.

Looking forward to this weekend's series; the Bulldogs will be able to test their skill against a team with much more skill and depth than they've seen to date and the Sioux will get a chance to prove they aren't slumping after a good start. I still think a split on the road at REA would be a good goal for the Bulldogs.
I agree, it looked like a good hit.

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

With all that has happen Malone out , all the illness, ect someone or two or three have to step up... (Kristo, Trupp are you listining) and start playing hockey. enough of being crybabys do what you are brought in here to do and win ..

ok now that i got that out- I am going deer hunting and hopefully getting the big one and if i do the Sioux will win # 8
LETS GO SIOUX

Fair enough. However, I suspect most Sioux fans, and probably even the UND staff and players, suspected some sort of suspension to come out of this. Since one game is the minimum suspension, there can't be a lot to complain about.

As for this weekend, I'll be surprised if UMD only gets a split. North Dakota is struggling a bit, although their play hasn't been too bad and they're getting lots of chances. Just seem a bit snakebit of late. But they go into this series seriously shorthanded at the crucial center position. I expect a Bulldog win Friday and a tie Saturday.

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

I think the league got it exactly right with the one game suspension. Not a dirty hit, but one which resulted in a season-ending injury to a well-regarded player, and a hit which violated the very rule that the league most heavily emphasizes enforcement of. I don't hear anyone associated with the team complaining, either, nor should they.

Looking forward to this series. Hoping for faster, end to end play. Frattin nets a hattie today and the Sioux shut the Dogs out tomorrow. Sioux sweep..

If the Sioux shutout UMD in either game this weekend, I will eat Dirty's socks.

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

I hope UND's goalies are sharp this weekend. I have been wondering if UND will play a bit more conservativley this weekend with some key players out. They need to stay out of the penalty box and somehow try to limit UMD's chances. UMD has the snipers so the Sioux players are going to have to score. No more of this almost scored hit the pipe crap. Gregoire could have had 12 goals last weekend alone!

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

I think UND is in trouble with all those players out and the Dogs coming in with something to prove after a slow weekend against the Beavers. I expect a very fast moving game with a lot of scoring chances on either side. It will come down to who capitalizes on those chances. UMD takes 3 pts

Yeah, no.

There's this thing called depth ... Sioux will be fine.

But since you are a UMD fan, I can see how you would see things from a positive light from your perspective.

I definitely don't think UMD will go back to Duluth with that unbeaten record.

There will be a huge get well card for Jesse Martin at the Ralph this weekend for fans to sign.It will be located at the guest services area right behind the Sioux Shop. My son and I will be signing it tonite for sure. Wish him nothing but the best.

I think we all saw it coming; it's just sad that had Martin not been injured, this would have resulted in nothing. As I mentioned earlier, the WCHA Wheel of Justice landed on "one game suspension" for something that didn't deserve it. Oh well, move on, right?

classy move by the Sioux and the Engelstad. I think we're all wishing Martin the best. DU and CC will both have moments of silence for him this weekend, and Air Force is planning it as well. I hope it's done all over the college hockey world.

And UMD sweeps.

All the positivity from Sioux fans has convinced me that this series may be the biggest mismatch since Cumberland played Georgia Tech. Or in hockey terms, this:

The card idea I like. Not so sure about the moment of silence bit, though. Isn't that normally done when a person has died? If I were Martin, that might creep me out.

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

Great win for UND over a very tough UMD team.

That Fontaine PPG was sick...just great passing for UMD on that one.

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

Nice win tonight. I was impressed with our overall energy. Dell was pretty solid too, now we just need to better defend the quick backdoor goals. c'mon tHak.

Re: tUMD @ UND: Novermber 5-6, 2010

Obviously dumb luck. The refs had to screw UMD at the end for UND to win. I'm sticking with my Cumberland-Georgia Tech analogy.
