I'm sure this will end well.

We noticed this at work. Its amazing how this has shifted.

It's also a pretty scary thought that you now have a crap ton of people from both sides that would never have owned a gun if we didn't go through the last 12 months.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

BTW, Trump's crazy tweet about flag burning? It just happened to come right after Fox News aired a story on students burning the flag. That's the type of disciplined, measured, thoughtful response you want out of somebody with the capability to drop a nuclear missile anywhere in the world within minutes with no oversight to stop him.

I guess the right is about to 'evolve' on gun control!

You mean how Trump was pro-gun control during the campaign? Yet another reason I didn't trust him, and therefore didn't vote for him.

If I were Muslim or black I would think about getting a gun, especially out here among the savages. It's not just that there's a huge swath of crazy racists out there emboldened by Trump's win, it's that they also have a large overlap with the gun fondlers. Mix in rube LEOs with their penchant for kicking in doors at the wrong house if you happen to be a Benjamin Moore match and there's a large population immediately at risk.

If the "civil war" ever happens, it won't be a race war, it will be an IQ war, and right now the wrong side is armed.

'Bout to evolve on the handling of classified information too, if Petraeus gets named Secretary of State.

Can't wait to hear the back-pedaling.

This is what I haven't figured out about this coming administration. Are they truly corrupt and looking to get in and basically use their position for whatever financial advantage they can take, or are they simply incompetent? It's the whole "blind trust" thing that has me asking this question.

As far as I know there are generally no "blind trust" laws that require a President, a member of Congress, or even people on a state level to place all their assets into a blind trust before taking office. But there are laws that prohibit conflict of interest type transactions, I assume, on both state and federal levels.

I assume the "blind trust" method is simply the creation of lawyers who have advised past Presidents to take this step in order to avoid the possibility of criminal charges later on. The blind trust is not intended as protection for the public, it's intended as protection for the office holder.

Honestly, I think there is a decent chance he's taking this position simply because he lacks competent, experienced people working behind him, looking out for his best interests. But maybe people are right, and he's just looking to leverage this job for a personal financial benefit.

The tough part to swallow is that he and his children seem to not know what a blind trust is. I'm sure they do and just don't want to use one, so they're playing dumb for the cameras. Why lie about it?

I'm sure it's scary for criminals. Good on the new gun owners and may they use them safely and have a lot of fun doing so. Lot of folks thinks guns are scary then once they start shooting realize how much fun they are.

Over 600 kids aged 0-11 killed or injured so far in 2016. Fun!

I understand the fear involved for certain people and the temptation to buy a weapon, but John Wayne fantasies aside, statistically, they're still safer without one in their home.

Rifles, especially older ones, are fun. Pistols are still too scary even after having tried them out.

Itch's Wife to Transportation Secretary. No hope for this country the next (4) years. None.

The great thing about our wonderful country is we have the choice, most people aren't so lucky. I certainly respect your decision not to have them if that makes you feel safer.

I've got no problem with that one. If the shoe were on the other foot, I think many would say it's latent sexism to define a woman by who she is married to, rather than her past work experience, which, regardless of how you feel about her politics, does qualify her for the job. Save the rage for the picks like Bannon and DeVos that really deserve it.

Not only do we have the choice, but our enemies fear attacking us because of it. That's why they go for remote islands or "gun-free zones". That's also why the government has to tread their tyrannical happenings very carefully: 1776 could happen all over again.

How will people armed with rifles and pistols over throw a government that has at its disposal armored tanks and bomber jets? Guerilla warfare works in those remote nations because our government has never committed the soldiers and equipment to truly eliminating the threat in those nations. Should an armed revolution try to come about in this country, on our own soil, the federal government, the governments of the many states, and the armored federal law agencies, and police departments of the countless cities and towns will come out with such overwhelming force to oppose those revolting that it wouldn't even last the week of armed conflict. After that it would be a simple matter of attrition, either waiting out those revolting "armies" until their supplies run out or until they do something stupid and are squashed like bugs. We have not deployed the full might of our military since WWII, and we still wouldn't need to in order to destroy any sort of grass roots coup you might envision in your wettest of wet dreams.
