TRP: More metal than your mother

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

Not at all. Each routine has a maximum score based on the difficulty of the elements to be performed (this is determined before the routine, and the gymnasts base their routines on knowing what is required for the maximum). Each mistake results in a deduction of points from that maximum. The severity of the mistake determines the deduction - and that is really the only part that is subjective - but if the judges know what they're doing, the spread in score due to their subjectivity isn't all that much.

Plus there are mistakes that are blatantly obvious, such as falls / step-outs / balance checks, etc.

And there's nothing subjective about a nice *** in a leotard. :D
OK, but all that applies to figure skating too.

Figure skating has an artistic score added to the technical - artistry is completely subjective. Gymnastics is all technical. Floor routines have choreography to add flow/continuity to the tumbling, but that doesn't have any impact on the score - the judges are only looking at how they execute their tumbling passes and whether or not they step out of bounds.

Oh yes it is - there's a big scale between college gymnast cameltoe and As Seen At Walmart cameltoe.
That's like saying baseball isn't a sport because there is a big difference between beer league softball dude's beer belly and babyjesus's beer belly.

Even though I'd much rather look at the women in gymnastics, I am always more impressed by the men. On the rings, especially. Ridiculous.

The rings and pommel horse are *'ing ridiculous. Those routines hurt just looking at them.

Who says there has to be any color downstairs?
Fair point. If you have the hardwood floors then they don't have to match.

"Ya know, um, heh, they're always, like, putting this guy down and making fun of him and saying he sucks and stuff, but you know, um, heh, he really does suck. And, um, heh, this is one of those times where everybody's right. Ya know what I'm saying?"

Yeah, I'm pretty excited that they're coming back.

OK, fine, but the color of the hair on my head is definitely red. Not what I was going for, but I kinda like it.

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

Wheeee. $850 later, my Jeep is almost 100%. Just a few minor things need to be done now. It woulda been about $1400 I think my brother said, if I actually let a regular mechanic look at it. My brother would have charged no labor, but I insisted on paying him some dough.

Of course, it's still $850 that I rather I didn't have to spend.

And since I dropped off my car at his place of work, I drove his car to my work. A wonderful little crapbox called a Hyundai Accent. It's like a friggin' Matchbox car.

And DHBoss nitpicked some of my work today. * him. They had the other guy in my area today, and he fell behind within an hour. They put me back in there, and not only did I get my sh* done, I was able to help others out, too.
