TRP: More metal than your mother

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

Twin Cities people - has anyone eaten at Piccolo? Just saw it featured on last week's No Reservations and it looked phenomenal, considering making a mental note of it for next April.

This looks like someplace Nathan might have gone, not so much Hoven.

You are correct in your whited out sentiment.

My roommate moves out tomorrow. I haven't lived alone in 4 years. Someone hold me.

It's a great feeling. When I first moved out on my own (20ish) until I was about 30, I had a roommate. The feeling you have that your place is only YOUR place is awesome.

Why was I handcuffed to the roof?

It was easier then trying to explain why you couldn't fly

Well the problem is that it's an open question as to whether or not I can afford it.

My weed budget just died a horrible death. :(

True. Hence my long time with a roommate.

I can only imagine my hockey roadtrip budget if I only had to pay 1/2 the rent....

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

He lives in Denver and has seen the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. I'd say that qualifies him to have an opinion on which type of geography is preferred. After traveling to both coasts and Denver several times, I'd say I agree with him (I've been to Seattle, San Fran/Oakland, San Diego, NYC, Boston, and DC).

Yes, I'm fully aware of this. I conveniently ignored this to make a joke. But thanks.

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

I hadn't even heard of it until his post. Looking at their website...that's about as close as I'll get to eating there. :p

I've heard of it, only because I do read the Taste section of the Star Diaper every week.

I do enjoy finer dining establishments, but most of the time I really can't justify (read: afford) such things unless it's truly a special occasion.

Re: TRP: More metal than your mother

Well there's the difference: MNS can't read. :p

:D

There are a good number of fine restaurants in the Cities. Ask around. For example, BPH, I (and whoever else) are planning on eating at Fogo for lunch before we head on out to Houghton for the Gophers series in November.

No, the difference is I have particular tastes that a lot of fine dining places don't really cater to so I don't read the Taste section. Fogo looks great though (and yes, I have heard of it). :p

I agree for the most part. I don't need "Our pasta this evening is squid ravioli in a lemon grass broth with goat cheese profiteroles, and I also have an arugula Caesar salad. For entrees this evening, I have swordfish meatloaf with onion marmalade, rare roasted partridge breast in raspberry coulis with a sorrel timbale...and grilled free-range rabbit with herbed french fries."

To quote American Psycho. ;)

I don't think I've heard of it. I like going to nicer restaurants, but this one doesn't look like it is really for me. The line "you're paying for quality not quantity" just leaves me with the impression that I'm going to be leaving there with a $50 credit card charge and still hungry. With that said, I'm sure I'd like the food, it looks pretty tasty.

I hate you all. :p

I read through a few of the comments - one guy said that every dish was $12-13, but you're encouraged to buy two or three dishes per person. Add the alcohol and desert, and he said his group of 3 (maybe a couple) had a $260 tab. That's not my style. Take me to the Refuge or Bullwinkle's during happy hour - those are my style. 5 or 6 drinks ($2.25 at the Refuge), a huge arse app (half-price..~$6), and tip for about $25-30, depending upon hotness of waitress.

Sadly the Refuge waitresses (all 2 of them) are just average and not that attentive. But they are nice. I've been going there since that place opened basically. The good ol days of $1.50 power hour! :)
