tCBG, don't read the previous post. :D

It's amazing that 25 years ago, few had cell phones. Now, you're an outcast if you don't have one. What could be so urgent that you have to be available 24/7?
Um, birth?

Um, birth?
Score one for the pregnant lady.

Gee, however did we manage before cell phones? :p

There are few cases (not a few; I meant few) where being available 24/7 is more essential than convenient. I just don't think it's enough to cause an uproar about not having a cell phone.

Oh, btw, I have a cell phone, and consider it essential, if only because I haven't had a landline in about 5-6 years.

Besides, without a cell phone it's a lot tougher to check your bank balance to make sure you have enough money in your account... *snicker*... to pay for your groceries with a.... HAHAHAHA... WITH A CHECK!

I call it "math skills" and memory to know what I have in my account. So I know if I have enough funds to pay for things. I don't need a fancy schmancy machine to tell me what I have. :p

Money is money, my friend.

And holding up the line is holding up the line. :p

Like when the 87 year old grandma or 35 year old soccer mom decide to get out their card after everything has been run up, and spend 4-5 minutes digging through their purse to find it? You mean like that? :p

Exactly like that, except you should know better. :p

And if they were paying by check, it would take them even longer to pay. They'd still have to dig through their purse to get the checkbook and then they'd have to write the check. This argument of yours still doesn't make sense.

Sure it does. Just as many people take longer than me to pay by card as there are ones who are quicker. So, shut your trap, take your neighbors to Denny's, and then tuck them into bed. It's 3:40, and if you don't get to Denny's by 4pm, they get cranky.

You don't get to say you do half of the steps beforehand and then compare yourself to some who does none of the steps beforehand. That's not the way it works. You lose. AGAIN.

This really shouldn't be that tough for you, but obviously it is. Let's try breaking this down once again.

Let's say there are two people in two separate lines, one paying with a card and one paying with a check. Let's assign them completely random names too. Let's call the one paying with a card Hot MILF. And let's call the one paying with a check Bald Dumbass.

Both Hot MILF and Bald Dumbass twiddle their thumbs and wait to do anything until after everything has been rung up. They both search through their purse for their card/checkbook and annoy the people behind them with their general slowness.

Once they get the card/checkbook out, who will get done paying first? Hot MILF. Because from start to finish, paying with a card is faster than paying with a check.

But let's give Bald Dumbass the benefit of the doubt and say he can write a check at super sonic speeds. It doesn't matter. Why you ask? One reason: Why the hell does Bald Dumbass have a purse?

Get off my lawn.

And Dirty, that's my point. I prepare. Most dumbarses don't; card or not.

Actually most people have their card swiped and signed before the transaction is finished being rung up...so they're still ahead of you.

And you don't have a lawn...

So your point is no longer that writing checks is just as fast. You've conceded the point that it isn't. Good. Now your point is that when you do all but one step beforehand, you're sometimes faster than people who pay with a card and do no steps beforehand. That's like saying you get your pizza faster than people who order at the restaurant because you called 15 minutes ahead. As if it is some sort of accomplishment.
