TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

That's the only Pearl Jam track I hate with every fiber of my being - "Last Kiss" comes pretty close but at least I can tough it through that.

Yes, I even dig "Aye Davanita."

"Last Kiss" is *ingly awful, but I give them a pass on that one beacuse:
a) It's not their song
b) It's not their fault it got so popular
c) The proceeds went to a good cause.

That said, I refuse to listen to it.

"Aye Davanita" has a nice groove to it.

"Stupid Mop" is just beyond words. Fortunately, it wasn't a portent of things to come.

When this sort of weather shows up, I really miss my old apartment one block from The Reef Bar.:( :D

That too. I didn't live right by a bar, but I would go to Patrick's on Third in St. Peter, MN when I knew heavy snows were going to hit.

"Well, shoot. I can't drive down 169 in this crap! Guess I have to stay here at the bar!"

I still know the people that own and operate it. They would always let those of us they knew well to stay upstairs above the bar. Two more pool tables, three more dart machines, two foosball tables, a refrigerator full of beer, and a 60" inch TV in which you could receive nearly 4000 channels on. Obviously, we went there often.

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

I like "Last Kiss" for what it is, but I have a penchant for the oldies. :o

Do I think PJ should have covered it? No, but they did a good job of it.

That was my first exposure to that song. I do say, I think I like it better than the original. Though, that was my first exposure to PJ, and I was floored when I found out what they usually did.

I don't have the words (about your "usually did" part of your post)

Let's put it in perspective: I was in my early teens when "Last Kiss" was out, and that was right around when my parents gave in and let me listen to something other than country. (The pop and rock stations were forbidden in my house before that point.) I was late to the game and I'm sadly STILL catching up.

My parents didn't care what I listened to, but nevertheless I was still a classic rock snob until my junior year of college. :o

F5: Operation Educate 'diva on music.

:)

And I'm sorry about your situation. I can sympathize. My parents only listened to (what we call now) oldies and country when growing up. A friend then intro'd me to this "crazy new band" called Quiet Riot. Then it was alllllll over. :D

That's actually what I lean toward now. I used to raid my dad's tapes on the sly and listen to them, so that still feels like a bit of rebellion.
I do listen to country when I drive, just because it's comforting (childhood memories and the like) and it keeps me calmer.

Nice. Sadly, breaking out of the shell (aside from the instances noted above) landed me right in the late-'90's bubblegum pop. :o

Ugh. Well, for non-hard-drive library, I have pretty much everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top. It was a big compliment when Nathan (of all people) commended me on my variety/mass of music. My hard-drive library is a bit deeper, obviously.

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

I feel like a bad person, but I've, in all honesty, never heard the original Last Kiss. :o

I think I'll go and listen to it now...
