TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

The Hasek in between the 90s and the lockout was pretty OK too. 2001-2002 in particular.

I think there's a difference between his pre-lockout career in Buffalo versus Detroit. He regularly carried those 90s Sabres teams on his back. By the time he got to Detroit he was still good, but the team in front of him was capable of lighting up anyone.

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

Sure, but back-to-back shutouts in Game 6 & 7 against Colorado (including Roy's Statue of Liberty game in Denver) in the WCF is still pretty nice.

Go getea beer. You'rea druionking withme. my dogs passedd. outl.:D
I don't drink beer, sonny. I'm glad you want me to fill in for your dog though?
Say that agnosticism is the view that the existence of "higher beings" is logically independent from the axiomatic system of the universe, and as an example you should re-derive the logical independence of the Continuum Hypothesis from Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory w/Axiom of Choice (ZFC). You'll probably learn more doing that than you will from the entire rest of that course.
...That might be a little above old Bucky's head.
I was going to say that all of those questions seem to be a bit leading, but then you said the guy (gal?) is a Lutheran minister, so there goes that theory. ;)
:p
Well what ARE you going to name it?
I find no need to name it.
I ovte for "The Dominator".
...
which means you're dumb
Meh.
Are you a Yooper Packer fan? One of those people?!
Yes. Interestingly enough, I grew up in a Lions/Spartans family, but I'm a Packers/Wolverines fan.
I think that is a question for ctf...
There are some things we just don't share.

It's a good way to find out if you're dealing with a teacher that will automatically give you a good grade if you write about things they're not able to understand. Also, I feel my life is slightly lacking since I've never actually gotten my hands dirty with ZFC (tried to take a logic class once, but I dropped it because it was run by a pseudo-intellectual nutter from U Chicago), and I'd hate to have the same thing happen to you :p .

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

So I got a kick-a** Christmas present last Thursday, and after a hellacious weekend of Christmas shopping, getting yelled at by my sister for forgetting our mother's present, and seeing a cashier at The Gap nearly break down crying (highlight of the weekend, btw) I figured I'd clue you fine folks in on it.

Just as background, for the past 2 years I've worked for a minor-league baseball team in NH trying to get into the sports industry, having done nearly every job there is to do at a baseball stadium. I've mopped up kids' puke, I've spent hours on a phone selling tickets to people I'd never met, I've sold foam fingers and mini-bats at outrageous prices, and for all of last summer I was the mascot. I'd often question why I was doing what I was doing, and whether or not I should pursue something else with my life, as I've been quite successful at asserting myself in the food service industry...granted at a small independent establishment, but I've picked up quite a lot.

Anyways, I got a call last Thursday after I'd gotten out of work from said food service establishment and I was offered with an entry-level job in the office with the team.

In a cynical world where sometimes our deeds go un-noticed, and we feel un-appreciated, I felt a sense of warmth, especially in the holiday season, knowing that people DO notice, and that sometimes people get what they deserve. It took years of doing crap work, but it's finally paid off.

Just felt like sharing, in case you're shuffling through and feeling like no one cares. Like Andy Dufresne escaping from Shawshank, you just need to crawl through 500 yards of sh*t-smelling foulness in order to get where you want to be.

This would have made my life complete. I despise those pushy, arrogant b*tches.

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

So I was at the mall today finishing up some last odds and ends, and I was forced to deal with virtually nothing but snotty attitudes from the cashiers every place I went. I realize it's retail, and you're making about 7 bucks an hour, but it's not like it's Black Friday and you've been at the till for 8 hours with no breaks.

Lighten up Francises. It's almost Christmas.

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

and you're a vikings fan I take it? Hope you enjoy the minneapolis meltdown that is on its way ;)

I believe its called a Viking meltdown/crushing my hopes and it happens every year. Big deal. :D

See: 1998, 2000, and 2003.

Re: TRP: Holidays and New Years Resolutions

Yield is an awesome album and the two tracks that got the most radio airplay are the ones I like least. Pearl Jam had a good habit of doing that with most of their albums towards the end of their run on their label. "Wishlist" and "Given To Fly" got way overplayed for me and even the "Given To Fly" single that was released, that was the worst song of the three on it (The other two were "Pilate" and "Leatherman" the latter of which is a killer track especially live).

Best songs on that album:

Do The Evolution
No Way
MFC
In Hiding
All Those Yesterdays

As for No Code, I still have a tough time listening to it because I hated it so much growing up. That said, it's got some GREAT songs on it and, again, the radio track was the weakest ("Who You Are" sucks something fierce). The best ones on that album are easy to pick out:

Hail, Hail
In My Tree
Red Mosquito
Off He Goes
Habit
Present Tense
I knew there was a reason we're friends. :)

We're going to listen to nothing but Pearl Jam the whole way home?!
(I'm not complaining, but can we add a little Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots for diversity?)
Well, I binged and Pearl Jam'd today, listening to as many of their studio albums as possible at work (in order). Got through Ten, Vs, Vitalogy, Merkinball, No Code, Yield, and Binaural. Gonna throw Riot Act on as I cook, and probably the Self-titled will get a spin later tonight. Lost Dogs might get some play time, as well. It's been a good day, so far. :D

And yes, I even listened to "Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me" in it's entirety. ...yeah.

That's the only Pearl Jam track I hate with every fiber of my being - "Last Kiss" comes pretty close but at least I can tough it through that.

Yes, I even dig "Aye Davanita."
