Re: TRP: Alcohol-Induced Impotence

Don't blame them for playing within the rules. Hate the game, not the playa!
I don't blame them for playing within the rules, I blame them for systematically breaking the rules and getting away with it for years and years.

And that is where you are wrong. They played within the rules. Anaheim, on the other hand...

Really? You don't remember when the NHL was like "oh ****, we haven't been calling interference for ten years, we should do something about that"? Yeah, that was you that they weren't calling that on.

The trap/left-wing lock isn't interference. Just sayin'. :p

No, it was all the interference that was interference.

Edit to add: Well, it wasn't ALL interference. Some of it was hooking and holding too.

And the Devils were the scapegoat/fall guy for using a system that was unconventional, ugly, arguably boring, and very successful. You're picking on the wrong team, is all I'm saying.

"arguably"? HA!

The Devils were the scapegoat because they were dirty AND boring.

I don't mind a good defensive game, where goals are a premium and you see goalies make great saves. That's not to say I dislike high-scoring games, but in those games I would hope it's because of superior offense, not bad defense.

I don't mind good defense either (heck, I'm a Cornell fan, we're all about defense and goaltending), but there's a difference between playing good defense and playing to get away with a ton of penalties. And, I mean, the NHL actually SAID that they needed to start calling that stuff again, I don't know how you can even dispute that the Devils were one of the main perpetrators beforehand.

Walking through a snowsquall in slush is a bad time to find out that your dress shoes leak.

You know what I don't understand? I don't understand how anyone prefers watching basketball to watching hockey.

I had this same thought at the gym this morning (one of the few coherent ones).

I'd rather watch golf then basketball. Hell, I'd rather watch "While You Were Out" then basketball.

The only time I watch basketball is during March, because I have money riding on it.

Am I the only one who sometimes confuses Ricky Gervais and Eddie Izzard?
