Trouble at Boston Marathon?

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

I certainly hope that the FBI is opening a file on you.

more likely the Dept of Mental Health.

though, you may be right, people with paranoid delusions often are the kinds of psychos who snap and go on rampages.

Timothy McVeigh used the same kind of language and imagery to justify what he did.

The more a person tries to reason with them, the more convinced they become that their paranoia is not a disease but a protective mechanism. "I'm the only one who sees the truth, it's everyone else who is deluded."

It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you.

It was meant as a jab, but he's using the same language as all the others who pull this kind of crap.

Used to think he was just a far-right ideologue. Turns out he's Michigan-militia crazy.

Well, the good news is that type is rarely violent unlike OWS, various one off democrats (including ricin elvis), and militant islamists.

Of course. We all have that crazy uncle or friend.

Just don't need to hear it right now when lives are on the line protecting this clown's right to voice such idiotic beliefs.

Also - ignorance unchallenged is never a good thing.

That's a common trope, however a professional psychologist will tell you that's not true. Even if they are "out to get you," a person suffering from clinical paranoia (i.e., an actual diagnosis of a specific disorder with distinct "markers") will react differently in that situation than a non-paranoid person would.

Re: Trouble at Boston Marathon?

The latest unconfirmed rumor is that the perp still at large is upset that police killed his brother and now wants to get as many of them as he can before they get him. Supposedly he has a notebook computer with him and is doing something on line.

It's just a saying...

I know that, but ignorance unchallenged is never a good thing. ;)

also, true "paranoia" the actual disorder, is quite serious. Or as the PhDs say, "SBW" (something bad wrong)

paranoid schizophrenia is just about as disturbed as you can get. ("SRBW")

Just saying I think the poster was throwing a jab, nothing more.

Fair enough, but as Gurtholfin said, it's an expression. Do you correct people when they say stuff like "you're pulling my leg" or "the devil's in the details"? ;)

Have they reported what his favorite college hockey team is? That should help us round it down.

Uncle in Montgomery Village, MD on NBC now. Says cause is that "they're losers" that they weren't able to assimilate to their new surroundings and hated those who did.
