So what's your point?
There are times, places, and situations in which martial law is completely appropriate, that's why we have provision for it in the first place.
These guys may have planted other bombs in other locations; they may have associates... You want to see another bomb go off in a crowded area full of people instead? "Bomb explodes in subway tunnel, but at least FlagDude08 is relieved that people were able to move about freely, getting in the way of the police while providing more cover for a dangerous mass murderer to escape." Nice headline.
Now, if it lasts more than a few hours, that's a different story. They catch or kill the guy before noon? Martial law is lifted. People are safe.

Just about every regular in the RPI threads has told him off at one time or another, several repeatedly. He seems to encourage that behavior, taking pride in how many people he can annoy.

I saw this item in several different stories, perhaps it is from AP wire that the different papers used as a source.
Anyway, there were so many small examples like this one of personal courage that I always find so remarkable about Americans in times of danger and tragedy, people setting aside their own safety and comfort to help others, often strangers, in times of need and distress.
One of the stories then went on to say that this description helped the Feds identify the man in photos and surveillance videos and may have helped lead to his identification. I guess the word "suspect" isn't strong enough any more; it seems pretty clear to all but one of us that these are the guys who did it.
I still remember quite vividly, not long after 9-11, a black comedian whose name I can't recall, saying "9-11 was the first time I truly felt like an American instead of feeling like a black man in America." You could tell that the entire audience was moved by that.
