Transfer Portal - 2024

Another Oz transfer: 6' 2 forward Jenna Majewski from UMass-Boston to SUNY Oswego. Not very many 6'+ forwards in women's hockey, even fewer in DIII...most tall girls seem filter out to basketball or volleyball by college from my own observations

It could be the classic case of picking the school for the coach. I know nothing of the situation. Colgate is a real good school.

I think Sydney Morrow picked Ohio State originally because she wanted to be a national champion and thought she'd be top 2 or 4 D her Soph year but then Nadine recruited Cayla Barnes and other more experienced 5th year Ds on the portal and she sensed she wouldn't get the playing time she deserved. Then she looked around and saw a need at Colgate which had a style and team with a lot of potential that met her criteria. The fact it's a respected academic school too is nice but if you want to be a professional hockey player less important. Unless I'm missing something the only reason she's on the portal is because Coach Fargo left. Gate has a real good but untested team this year, but no coach. At the top level of college players they want and expect to play for championships each year. If Colgate hires someone she feels can get her there, I bet she stays. If not she's gone but only to a team she feels can win it all...

A masters in astrogeophysics from Princeton can wait until her Olympic and pro careers are over...

That's an unfortunate lapse of judgment on her part and she should have stayed at Ohio State to have that Championship. I can't help but wonder if she succumbed to the entitlement bug feeling she deserves more at Ohio State and didn't have the patience to EARN it.
If she were still here she probably would by now be on one of the top two lines and significant playing time and be in contention for more National Championship in her remaining two years. Oh well.

Interesting if this is true, but I just heard she is heading back to the WCHA and will be playing hockey in the state of Minnesota. I assume the Gophers. Not sure anything else makes sense (in Minnesota).

Interesting but it seems like a lot of conjecture. I don't think anyone is going to leave MN WI or that other team and expect their odds of winning a Natty increasing.

I get a kick out of you WCHA guys. The only conjecture in my comment was why she ended up coming to Colgate. Clearly something drove her out of OSU as it was obvious with their incoming portal class last year they were loaded. She must have felt with Gate's strong '24 class she at least had a shot. Now we'll see what she does
given Gate stayed in house for its new head coach when it appointed Stefan Decosse earlier today.
I will neither "conject" nor speculate on her next move!

It's been an interesting topic about Morrow but it's all speculation and conjecture on our part. Some of us might be right but we'll never know. But if I was her father I'd push her to look beyond hockey and appreciate what that Colgate diploma will do for her in the real world.

Whether it is conjecture, rumor, or speculation it is all kind of fun to some extent. Keeps these topics more interesting if done respectfully. Anyway, seems as though Morrow will play for the Gophers next year. Kind of a surprise, but I assume Gopher fans look at this as a good addition.

You are right on the fun aspect. And Morrow would be a good addition for the Gophers.
And no disrespect intended but given the silence for the most part of their fans on forum I'm speculating they're not that excited about their teams chances next season? I haven't looked at their roster to see for myself.

I think adding a star right-shot defender to a team that badly needs someone on the back end that shoots that way makes me feel a lot more optimistic, when you add her to a group that includes left-shots Laitinen, Parkkonen, and the two incoming freshmen from Canada.

They are into sandbagging. I'm sure you are not familiar with concept being an OSU fan LOL and haha!!!. It's a legit 3 horse race next year.

Mr. Ian Kennedy's preseason top 4 in this order were: 1-UW 2-UM 3-OSU 4-some eastern school that I forgot who it was because my mind blew seeing UW and UM ahead of OSU. Oh the humanity!

Morrow may be seeking out greener grass where unicorns live. She left O State because of limited ice time, got to Colgate and started off well with the talent there who helped her look even better. Then she got injured and never got back to her previous level of success. Got picked for USA worlds but saw limited (perhaps zero ice time).has a tendency to get caught out of position by playing too aggressively at D and taking extended shift times. she must be going somewhere because her name wasn’t mentioned in Colgate’s post of their players who made USA Lake Placid camp.

He must have switched from sniffing glue to thinner whoever he is and why his opinion matters.

I don't post much anymore, but I can assure you that it has nothing to do with not being excited about next year. I'm pretty optimistic about it. That said, I don't think being the 4th or 5th best team in the country and coming up a 4th overtime goal from making the Frozen Four is the sort of disaster that a lot of my compatriots do. So, I may have an idiosyncratic definition of "optimistic."

Good to hear the Gophers are still contenders and keeping the WCHA strong. I never doubt your fan loyalty Eeyore, I never see TimothyA or Robertearle make the trip to Columbus to support their team like you do.
