Tournament Speculation Thread

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

...how good are they at keeping secrets???
Very. Unless somebody has an inside source, the NCAA keeps it pretty tight. The last super secret ranking is even more closely held.

However, sometimes you can infer what the selection committees did. There was one year when they put some school in the rankings just to make sure that another school got in via wins vs. ranked teams.

That right there makes or breaks teams.

It's a subjective process and it can get pretty intense I'm sure ranking X team over Y team to try and better Team A over Team B.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

We'll discuss Manhattanville on sunday morning....... 2 of the 3 meetings have yet to be played. Coming up this weekend.

Simply put: Utica has to beat Elmira at the Domes.(Amongst other things) If that happens, it's completely up for discussion.

Exactly correct.

SO MUCH hockey left to be played...

And we always know, no matter how many times we try to predict it, one of the teams favored to win their conference gets upset and it throws the whole thing into chaos.

No one is a lock yet. There are some teams that are close and realistically yes you could probably punch them in...However, at this point, no one is a lock and I don't think anyone will be a lock for a few more weeks still.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

Because of CSC's weak SoS and record vs. ranked teams, they probably need to beat Norwich twice to get into the tournament andthat will be as the AQ.

If they want a chance at Pool C, they have to beat Norwich in Rutland, and avoid Norwich in the ECACs. One win against NU will improve their RNK. A win and a loss not so much. Lose the regular season game and their only shot is the Pool A bid.

Don't look past M'Ville, one game at a time. EC could very well find themselves in 2nd place after this weekend.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

They could be in second place, but with games in hand so no big deal in my opinion :)

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

I'm still trying to figure out why the ECAC-W would get a slot.....They don't seem to be that competitive outside of their conference.

Oh, we're very well aware of how tough M'Ville really is. they've started to establish an identity for themselves in the last couple of weeks after being erratic through early december. takin it one game at a time. we'll see what transpires. I like UC to win tomorrow night. we'll see about saturday, playing on a 75 foot wide sheet is something Utica doesn't seem to do very well.

Re: Tournament Speculation Thread

The ECAC West really shouldn't get any team into the NCAA's. The conference can't get enough teams to qualify for an AC. The number of teams that they get in every year 2-3 and look how many NCAA championships the conference has after RIT left 1. That one was to a hot team who should have it's championship stripped. The track record after RIT isn't very impressive. Does the committee look at a conference to see how they do in past tourneyments? There are much more deserving teams that should get in. Give the West another seed this year and make it a 7-5 tourney this year just to upset the Eastern bias.
