Top Incoming Players, Freshman players to watch

Re: Top Incoming Players, Freshman players to watch

Wow. Your reading comprehension is amazing. Thanks!

I'm not saying you can't list your incoming class. You can, if you're DU or UND or Mich. The question was asking for the best imcoming classes in the COUNTRY, not the EZAC.

Re: Top Incoming Players, Freshman players to watch

Jordan Ruby looks like he's set to continue a long tradition of outstanding goalies at RIT. Keep an eye on him for sure. Many people were impressed with Madolora's stats from last year... but Ruby could challenge for the starting job.

DU's 2011 Recruiting Class
D Scott Mayfield (Youngstown, USHL) - NHL 1st or 2nd round pick
F Zac Larraza (U.S. Under-18) - Possible NHL 3rd round pick
D Joey LaLeggia (Penticton Vees, BCHL)- BCHL Defensive player of the year. Will probably be a 5G, 20A guy. Possible WCHA Freshman of the year if Rocco Grimaldi falters.
D Josiah Didier (Cedar Rapids, USHL) - Likely to be NHL Draft pick. Will be solid from get go.
F Daniel Doremus (Sioux Falls, USHL) - Will be solid from the get go
F Larkin Jacobson (Janesville Jets, NAHL)
D-F Wade Bennett (Wichita Falls, NAHL)
F Matt Tabrum (Omaha, USHL)
I don't see how all these guys are going to get playing time. No playing time = no recognition.I do like LaLeggia though, very nice player.

DU had 7 players graduate, 1 turn pro early and 1 leave in the middle of last season to go to the WHL. Those 8 recruits are filling 8 of those spots. DU still needs a 3rd goalie who will back-up Murray until Brittain returns.

Re: Top Incoming Players, Freshman players to watch

If you plan to actually "watch" these wunderkind play college hockey get your tickets as soon as possible, preferably to an early season game.

Re: Top Incoming Players, Freshman players to watch

Yes, by "Who are the best freshman players in the nation" we meant "Please list every single incoming freshamn Cornell has."
Ha - Cornell has 10 guys coming in this fall, and pfibiger only mentioned 9, so that shows what you know... ;)

So here's to you, Kevin Cole: the unheralded Big Red Recruit of 2011. (now watch him go out and win the Hobey. 4 times.)

Re: Top Incoming Players, Freshman players to watch

Not sure about the reliability of CollegeHockeySource.

Michigan State has a couple players to keep an eye on - Shattuck St. Mary's' (and Team USA) Tanner Sorenson and Muskegon's (USHL) Matt Berry, each a forward and each 2nd on team in points last season.

For real.
Of course that's Guelph. Of course shame on them for not saying whether major junior or university.

Not only in Guelph is it less important and more difficult to distinguish between major junior and university hockey.

actually it is very easy to distinguish. Major junior caliber play is on par with the NCAA, the CIS Hockey level of talent doesn't come close. Take a look at NCAA-CIS Exhibition games
