Interesting point regarding this whole ordeal was brought up by my dad recently...
Although Nike is sticking with El Tigre at the moment, how do they push their golf lines in the future?
I think that they have pushed themselves into a nice little predicament... As much as they like to perceive themselves as championship caliber, they really don't have any big names playing their gear... Their main athletes behind Tiger are KJ Choi, Steven Ames, and Stewart Cink... Not exactly names that Joe 6-Pack knows... They do have Michelle Wie, but she is still useless in the eyes of most of the golf world...
Their equipment is only "so-so" in the grand scheme of things... So without any big names pushing it, what happens to the line? The Nike name will sell to the masses, but I still believe their ultimate goal is to become a legit golf company... How do they keep it from being relegated to the 2nd tier of equipment the likes of Mizuno, Wilson, and Pinnacle...
Does Nike go out and pick up some of the big names to keep their image up, or do they hope that their younger guys like Anthony Kim?
