Well here's to smaller venues then. Having been to the Dunkin Donuts Center (!) in '04 and Agganis in '09, I can only imagine the thrill of a capacity or even a 50% capacity crowd. No one was in Providence, and at Agganis the bands seemed to outnumber the fans. Of course in '09 every team was from some far away country, but this was Boston, after all, and, given the teams involved, you knew the hockey was going to be great.

Now it gets interesting. I realize that it's a moot point now, but I don't understand why each school isn't given an allocation that is available to the general public. Doesn't have to be much. Even 100 per school would have been a nice token. Only available at the school's ticket office, limit 2 per person. Something like that.

There you, driventoit! Full is good. Nothing wrong with a sellout! Now, we just have to try to make sure the people who bought tickets, come to the games.

I hear you, it's too bad some consideration for the fan base that is ready to travel isn't made, especially for season ticket holders. I think 100 for the fan base (after the teams tickets, i.e. players etc) is more than a token in our current reality of women's hockey.

At the 2012 frozen four in Duluth, the announced attendance for the final was 2400. Outside of Minneapolis and Madison attendance is small. And in Minneapolis and Madison 2000 is a lot but it's still a challenge to get people to go to the games!

I truly mean no disrespect, but can you clarify your point? It seems to me that everything you say DOES point to 2013 as the game-changing event.

I'm surprised, and impressed, that the demand does seem to be just as strong, even without the historic undefeated mark on the line this time. Make it doubly impressed when you factor in that this time you've also got TWO mens conference tournaments going on at the same time this weekend in the Cities

Is it that they aren't given an allocation that can be sold to the general public, or is it that they are given an allocation that could be sold to the general public but instead opt to reserve the entire allotment for the players' pass list and university officials?

I wondered that at first also, but I think Nowheresville meant that the point is indisputable that 2013 is the reason.

I have gone off the assumption that the allocated tickets can only dispersed within the program per some NCAA rule. For whatever reason, additional tickets aren't being made available to each team's fan base. Maybe I'm wrong...

That would be interesting. That never occurred to me and still seems kind of hard to believe!

When tickets first went on sale online they were available to everybody, no matter where they were from or which team they supported. It just so happens the Gophers have a lot of fans, and they snapped them up pretty quickly. :) And at the time, like any other team's fan base, those who purchased tickets could not be sure that the Gophers would be in it.

I just checked stubhub for the heck of it. There appear to be more tickets for sale now than last week. (Not uncommon to see last minute increase in ticket availability on stubhub) Not sure how they compare to face value pricing, but if you are serious it is a service to consider. I've bought last minute ticket for events on stubhub in the past, sometimes at a really good price.

I got to the party later than you did. But IIRC the numbers from a couple days ago, the availability is actually a bit lower now -- roughly 50 seats left for each session.

At least for those traveling beyond commuting distance, I'd recommend making the purchase for both sessions right away, while you have the chance. It's hard for me to fathom purchasing a plane ticket to travel to Minnesota, but holding off on the ticket purchase because you might save $20 - $30 on a last minute price drop. My guess is that the relatively small inventory will be exhausted in advance.

This is not very well thought out teams could easily be allocated a few hundred seats that could be turned back to the general public at the last minute if not sold by the school. This is a nice problem to have and maybe unique to Ridder but it is hear again in 2 years so they can fix it for next time.To be honest it would be better if the fans were consolidated into a cheering section anyway rather then scattered around the arena.

By the way if you have not been here for awhile the light rail between the downtowns stops a few blocks from the arena, it is slow but convenient. St Pats day festivities will carry over to the weekend and hockey tournaments will be at each end of the light rail. This will be a fun weekend to be in Minny, we have experienced a bit of a renaissance in the beer and restaurant world in the last few years. There are many small breweries that have tap rooms and a big new one for Surly that is worth a stop. Nationally recognized places like Travail, Burrough, and Spoon and Satable will give your world class meals for way less than $100 a plate. If your more of a DDD type they just filmed at Pizza Lola last weekend and rate the Nook/Shamrock as the best juicy lucy on the planet. Lots of good stuff here in fly over land on and off the rink.

Another warning if you're thinking of going the Stubhub route, all of the tickets are listed as UPS delivery, so I would guess that most of the tickets for Friday's game will actually expire this afternoon. I think they assume 2 day delivery, and they require the tickets to be delivered a day in advance.

Anyone know Ridder's policy on SRO tickets - i.e., if you have SRO, and there are seats empty you can sit? Or, are you corraled into some section and not allowed out of that section? Really not interested in standing through two semifinal games, particularly if there are plenty of seats to be had at the BC-Harvard because most of the Minnesota/Wisconsin fans leave.

Anything I buy of stubhub within 1 weeks of the event, I would only buy electronic downloadable option tickets.

they may have a policy but , no as a practical matter
you should be able to sit wherever you want unless the ticket holder shows up
