Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

Re: Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

A. If the big 3/4 make the show Plattsburgh/Oswego/Middlebury/Norwich/SNC (3 or 4 of those)
B. you decide to only go Saturday will there be seats

You gotta understand Remy, I'm retired and not real smart :D

If 75% (3/4) make the show, there will be room for 25% :p (I suppose if 33% of those that make the show are so big they each take two seats, there won't be any seats left).

Hawk, the ferries at Crown Point run 24/7 on about a ten minute schedule, and it's free!

My head hurts. And it's not from this stupid cold I have.

Someone else who watched the USA - Finland game? This will be my first time back to LP since that fateful day :D

How often do we get asked...you saw them beat the Russians??

Re: Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

I have never been to a final four. That said and considering that the Herb Brooks Arena in LP seats 7,700 fans--will I really have a problem getting a decent pair of seats to the first Norwich game?

Clearly, I do not want to sit up in the nose bleed section but what kind of turn out do these finals in a venue that large usually attract?

Do they still have a consolation game? Assume most folks on the short end of the score after their quarterfinal game split or do they have a consolation game. Please advise. Thanks. Old Rook NU'66

the place was almost empty last year for the final 4. Guess it all depends who the F4 teams are.

On TV. :p

But at least I got to see it live on Canadian TV, unlike the rest of America.

It was still a good crowd. It's just that in an arena that seats that many, a good D3 crowd can look small. I know the ORDA folks were very happy with attendance, even after 2008 when attendance was great.

Re: Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

I agree with Russell...I am a Platty fan and even after Neumann spanked us the Quarters last year, I went to the Final Four like any avid D3 hockey fan should, and the crowds were not that bad...I think the region (including PSU fans) should go and support this event, even if the Cardinals are not in it. :)

Even the 2008 crowd looked minuscule, but it was a great crowd for a DIII game. As for last year, I think ORDA was happy with paid attendance, which included many a Plattsburgh fan that never actually went. ;)

Re: Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

What's anyone's guess on attendance if, say, Platty/Midd and Norwich meet in the semis? Fill the place up?

On a Friday? 4,000 tops. And that's probably pushing it.

Now on Saturday, if it's two nearby teams, they may break the 2008 mark.

Let's put it this way: Platty/Elmira and Norwich/SNC in 2008 had a paid attendance of 5,600 for the day, Platty/SNC had 4770, most of which were probably 2-day buyers who didn't return the second day (that was NOT a 4,000+ crowd).

Norwich and SNC both travel real well. I'd say ORDA's dream FF would be Plattsburgh/Norwich and Oswego/SNC. If that happens, semifinal paid attendance (which is done by day, not by game) will exceed 6,500 and possibly exceed 7,000. That's my assertion, you have it in writing.

Re: Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

I just looked at the Attendance Records for DIII, and it still lists the 5,516 from 2/4/06 River Falls @ SNC as the all-time single-game record. Does the 5,600 not count because it wasn't a single game, or is the NCAA just really slow with these things? :p

Re: Tickets for the Final Four, Lake Placid NY

Why wouldn't it be Midd, Platty, NU and Potsdam? Little Primelink throwback for everyone...

I meant their dream FF based on this year's QFs. ;)

I agree, the original Primelink lineup with Semis on a Saturday would absolutely sell out the place.

You never know. It took them eight years to list a guy in the single season save category of the record book...and that was only because I informed them of it.

Most exciting sporting event I've ever attended. Likely to keep that position for my remaining years. Canadian TV coverage of the Olympics has always been better (except this year, when everyone's was poor), and a boon to those of us able to get CBC.

I digress. Wouldn't want to be accused of thread-jacking :)
