Re: This Week in Hockey East

With the season rapidly coming to an end I am curious on people's impressions of Hockey East overall. I think the standings are a pretty accurate with the overall strength of the teams even though I would personally switch Providence and Northeastern in my rankings. Overall I think the league has gotten stronger this year. BC and BU are the class of the conference. Northeastern has a few outstanding players to compliment Coyne. Providence is young and finding its game after losing some key seniors and their goalie but I think they are set to be very competitive in the future. UNH has improved but is not consistent. UNH shows flashes and it will be interesting to see how they finish. Vermont is improved and is well coached but continues to struggle with injuries and depth. Maine is the biggest surprise in that they have taken a couple of steps backwards from their ascension of the last couple of years. UCONN needs help.

Re: This Week in Hockey East

The league has taken a step forward in terms of top talent but a step back overall I think. Parity is a good thing and I think having the best teams so much better than the worst isn't really all that great for the conference.

Re: This Week in Hockey East

I think the gap is closing between WCHA and Hockey East which has to be a measure of is the League getting stronger.

Although BU and BC are on top of League if you look at scores there are 1 goal games that could have gone either way. The League does not appear to have the dominant goaltenders of the past but maybe that is unfair statement. Several of the Teams are able to roll +3 lines which is a big step forward - coaches are utilizing more players 5 on 5 which speaks to improved talent in the League.

Should be a great finish but not sure how many HE Teams can find a way to Frozen Four - would love to watch 2 at Ridder in Minneapolis.

Re: This Week in Hockey East

Otto - it looks like Stick Boy's and goaliedad's picks still need to be added for last week. As much as I would like to leapfrog Stick Boy, he still has the edge on me. As long as I can stay a few picks and one whoopie pie ahead of Hux, I sleep well at night. :D
