Re: This Week in Hockey East
I think that will definitely happen since it pretty much happens every year. You have teams playing their best hockey because they are desperate to keep their seasons alive and on the flip side, you have teams that know they have a spot in the tourney regardless of the result. Obvious example is when Maine beat both BU/BC last year to take that last playoff spot. To add on, I am not that impressed with BC this year (might be bias since I've seen BU put two whoppings on BC without a fully healthy roster) and wouldn't be surprised at all if they dropped some pts here and there down the stretch. The regular season title should be Northeastern's for the taking and I WILL be surprised if they don't win it.
Tuesday's Beanpot matchups should be fun and have pretty important post-season consequences. I'll actually be rooting for BC to beat Harvard as that should help with knocking all those ECAC teams in the top 12 PWR down a bit and give credibility to the HE teams. Of course, I am hoping we can beat Northeastern in the night game but I think Northeastern will be the favorite as they already own a 2-1 record against us (almost 3-0) and we may be without Poulin again as she did not play against UNH and is possibly re-injured.
Anyone know why Poulin didn't play against UNH?
With all the non Beanpot schools fiannaly catching up with their games in hand we have a stratified standings like we all thought coming into the season.
NU and bc seem to have the byes in their control. NU clinches with a win Saturday or Sunday, and controls their destiny for 1st place, while bc only needs 5/8 points from UVM and UConn.
bu, Maine and PC are all tightly grouped for the 2 home ice slots.
And down at the bottom UVM, UConn and UNH are all in the running to make a playoff appearance.
There are bound to be a few surprises left in the regular season anyone care to say what they will be? I think either UConn or UVM might steal one of their games against bu/bc.
