This Week In Hockey East, Volume II: Now Even Hockey East-ier!

Re: This Week In Hockey East, Volume II: Now Even Hockey East-ier!

But someone told me if they both win out, it will be a coin flip.
Luckily, this isn't a case where there are huge implications of a coin flip. The championship will be shared in any case. As far as getting the top seed, there isn't a ton of difference between the #7 and #8 seeds. Teams three through five are quite close as well, and the top seed doesn't host the semis and final. So as bad as a coin flip is at least it isn't catastrophic here. The biggest issue is probably last change if the two meet in a final.

Man PC parents don't like me. Oh well.

Edit: now two different fathers have threatened me. And all I've done is the Hey Song. They need to grow some thicker skin.

Now three.

Or maybe you should show the maturity to match the age you are now. Your act at Mathews is HS cute. At a Senior night no class. Go find a bar to sing at or take your act to Americas Got Talent.

I love the "this is women's hockey so let's all be nice" argument. One of my personal favorites.

Also I'm going to make the assumption that the parents were probably drunk (given that I've seen this happen before), and will also make a guess that you were one of those drunk parents given the incoherence of your post.

PS If you don't want Mr. DogHouse to sing his team's goal song at your girls, tell them not to suck bad enough to give up so many goals.

TT,

Thanks for jumping in!

1) No I heard him over the announcers on the on line video back in MN - that is obnoxious
2) How did BC do against NU at Bean Pot - did you enjoy his act that night?
3) Sorry about that worst tie ever yesterday hope it doesn't result in BC not winning HE.

There's a mute button on your computer, no? Do you ever watch men's hockey games on TV? I'm assuming you hear the student sections on those broadcasts, right? No issue with that, huh?

I had no problem whatsoever with his "act." Same as I have no problem with any school's student section, men's or women's.

Thanks?

Seriously, have you never been to a hockey game before? Do you have a problem with student sections at men's hockey games? I don't see you complaining in the men's forum.

I don't get it. Any explanation? Why the difference? Because they're girls?

Sure Tony grew up in hockey, played at Wisconsin with a very spirited student section, so sure love student sections and why I love to go and watch as much as I can. Hope some day we have real and loud student sections at all women's games including BC.

Didn't know this guy was still a student?

A single guy making a spectacle in a small crowd just is not normal and at least at PC not appreciated. Hey if he wants to be an *** it is America and his right.

I was just suggesting outlets for his need to be a performance artist.

All the Best!

Okay so just so we're clear: Cheering at men's hockey games ONLY is okay, but ONLY when you're a student, and ONLY if there are other people also cheering.

Everyone get that? Want to make sure everyone learns joehockey's rules for proper fan-ism. Feel free to bump thread as needed.

BUMP lets just go back to the TT BC thread

Re: This Week In Hockey East, Volume II: Now Even Hockey East-ier!

Not that anyone asked me, but I think the "we do it at men's games" analogy is pretty lame. The men get TV, huge crowds, the possibility of NHL, etc. The women play in front of few people and whether they succeed or fail it goes unnoticed by the vast majority of the population. Yes, this is America and you have the right to express yourself. But as an adult male, I feel that chivalry should not be totally dead and there should be limits on what I would holler at a young woman. If someone tells you that they find what you are "cheering" to be obnoxious, at least ask yourself if you would want someone to direct that toward your daughter, sister, or whatever. Life works best if people aim a little higher.

I agree, to a point. But he was singing his school's goal song, which, yes, features "Hey! You suck!" That's it. Nothing beyond that. And I wouldn't approve of anything beyond that at a men's game either.

How would I feel if my wife or sister were playing and someone was doing that? I'd love it. I'd love seeing enthusiasm for the sport and rivalry in the rink.

Off the ice it's another story and I'd just as soon shake the hand of any BU player (for example) not named Melissa Anderson. But on the ice, I hate you, and I intend on letting you know that. I would imagine Mr. DogHouse feels the same way.

Re: This Week In Hockey East, Volume II: Now Even Hockey East-ier!

First of all I want to thank Otto for being so diligent about the Pick'em all season long. It was fun as it was last year.

And I'll respond to ARM. Yes there are limits. Saying the word 'suck' isn't even close to the line, in my opinion the line isn't even in the horizon. I jeer a goalie when she or he (at mens games) lets in a goal. Guess what they failed in their central duty don't let the puck in. Is it always their fault no, but guess what it is on their stats.

As you put it their success and failures is largely ignored by the general public. I think that is a shame. At NU this team is the most talented and successful on campus both historically and currently. We have multiple olympians and they should be recognized.

Today at the game I talked to parents, former players and current players. Most of them enjoy it and the rest don't care. I'm going to be the bearer of bad news to any parents out there your daughters are NOT perfect angels anymore. They swear. They act rude. They have said far worse things then me on the ice, if you listen at a game you will hear it because it is too quiet. A former player laughed when she heard what happened saying it was outrageous that the 's' word would cause trouble. One of our goalies dad was giving me grief for settling it down to day so as not to start a fight and distract from the masterful sweep of PC by these fine ladies. He said if his daughter were on another team he wouldn't mind it is part of the game.

As for if it were my gf/daughter/friend would I mind NO! Just like TTT said it means someone cares and thats what I have been told and complimented on many times over the years. It would be different if they weren't all ADULTS sure they are 'young women' but they are my age and are adults either way. My 'act' at a 5 year old game WAY WAY WAY over the line. But as you put it ARM this is the pinnacle for most of these girls. I have never been complained to by a player and have been often complimented even by the opposition. As TTT said I would gladly shake the hand and compliment an opposing player after a game and do regularly. I did it last night in PC despite getting run out of town. When ever I see a player I always make sure to say good game to them. After our Beanpot defeat of bu a player was in the parking lot crying and I went out of my way to say you played well and better luck against Harvard next week. And I hate bu as an institution, not the players. I root against laundry it isn't personal (except Melissa Anderson...) These girls are all incredibly talented and I feel should get treated as such.

And suck isn't even starred out by USCHO so get off my back people.
