Things you've learned as a parent...

Well I got it. This sucks. Primarily because I can’t just go rest anymore.
That sucks!

A friend of mine became sick with it at the same exact time as his 3 month-old son. His wife had to take care of their other three kids while her husband and baby were quarantined in the basement. She was a wreck.

well, either it passed through me quickly or I got some other 24-hour bug.

Sore throat is gone. I’m not wearing eight layers just to keep warm (this was when my wife knew I was feeling really ill, I threw extra blankets on the bed and went to bed with a shirt and socks), I don’t have full body aches.

From what I read it can vary to asymptomatic to a week of hell for adults. Anyways, I’m hoping that’s it for me.

It would seem that kiddo has now permanently shifted TWO hours instead of one.

Instead of waking up at 7:30-8:30 CDT, he’s now waking up at 5:30-6:30 CST.

7:00 would have been ideal to match up with our morning routines especially around work and drop off.

I guess we get to adjust now…. It’s just that the only time we get a break is after we put him down at like 8-9. And by break I mean, finish laundry, dishes, make formula, etc.

I know, I know. This is what we signed up for. It’s worth it. Especially seeing his stupid little triangular smile. He’s just so happy and it warms the coldest cockles of my heart.

Edit: I just realized where I’ve seen that smile before

2/2 on bringing home viruses weekly so far.
And this is the one thing that made me thankful that COVID happened. Actually, one of many things regarding having a new baby born a few weeks before COVID lockdowns were enacted. Everybody was so diligent about not getting sick that my daughter had her first illness around 8 months old. And she was sick perhaps four times during her first 15 months in total.

IVF failed for my daughter. They are going to try again. It's a long, fraught process.
My buddy had to go through a number of rounds before his daughter was born. I believe that’s more common than not.

Oddly enough, after having so many issues getting pregnant the first time, their son was born about 15 months after their daughter was born, no fertility treatments needed.

I am not sure it is so "oddly." That also happened with a friend of my daughter and another friend of ours.

My daughter understands all that, her friend went through 8 rounds, but is understandably heart-broken this time around.

My cousin was told she couldn't get pregnant. They adopted an infant. Just before the adoption went through, she got pregnant. So, she had two daughters less than 9-months apart. They went through school together like "twins."
