  • The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways. We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.

These ads are too da** annoying!

One thread to collect all the gripes from the various threads about the weird update that happened the last few days/weeks that caused Google Ads to overrun the forum.

On mobile, it appears that the edit post feature is now broken, and doesn't actually save the changes you make to your post.

On PC, it appears that webpages take longer to load now.

Can only access on the phone during the day now.

Work won’t let mookie log in with all the ads.

Tippycanoes master plan, no doubt :D

Re: These ads are too da** annoying!

I didn't have anything to do with the new format, but if you want mook, I can set it so you can't log in here at all. :)

Re: These ads are too da** annoying!

Who can I make a small donation to, to get the ads gone again (at least for me)? :D

Re: These ads are too da** annoying!

I think the ads embedded within the post's are most annoying, especially when they're placed between a quote and the reply. Then it looks like Scooby is saying "JFC" in reply to an ad about CarMax and not the tragedy of a Tweet he's quoting. :D

Also, the delayed/refresh loading seems like it would be more taxing on USCHO's servers.

This seems legit.

If you give me a ton of money I'll make sure you never see an ad on this site again :D
Seriously, those are decisions made far above my paygrade.

This seems legit.
Editing posts on mobile is broken as well. Pressing save changes brings up a screen that says "you chose not to delete your post, bringing you back to your post" and it never saves the changes.

Also, it seems to be something with just the mobile version as I do not have ads when I view the page as "desktop site" on my phone.

Whatever vBulletin update was applied seemed to have broken the mobile version.

Just trying to pass helpful info along, I know there isn't much you can probably do.

Re: These ads are too da** annoying!

So no response from TPTB yet? I'm having issues getting the Forum itself on my desktop in IE (though no ads there). Before you all yammer on about me using it, it's our default browser. Anyway, I was wondering if the USCHO tech peeps are trying to see what's up and it's causing other issues.

Re: These ads are too da** annoying!

I'll be honest, until I saw other people complain I legit thought I had malware on my phone. The ads are that bad/obnoxious.

Re: These ads are too da** annoying!

In response to this thread, obviously ( ;) ), I am now receiving ads on my work computer when using this forum.

Quick reply still launches the full reply editor, however.
