Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

You could say that about any of the top four seeded teams, it's all about who gets hot at the end, the regular season is out the window and whoever wins three games straight against the teams chosen will get the title. Everyone thought that UND was going to walk through first round last year, and that BC would be the title game in the semis, but I guess things changed. The number of elite programs has been pretty static for many years, I think we have more programs approaching that status and the teams in the traditional status quo just can't comprehend that any teams other than the "chosen ones" would dare approach thier level.

Maybe so, but I just don't think the ECAC teams are battle tested enough during the course of the regular season to be a real threat to win it all come tourney time. Yale hasn't played any top 10 teams and only # 20 CC outside of some ECAC teams ranked in the teens. We saw it with Cornell a few years back where they dominated the ECAC, but couldn't get past lower seeded HE teams in the tourney. Sure, Yale could beat anyone on any given night, but I just don't see them having the ability to beat three top 6 or 7 teams in a row which they will likely need to do to win it all.

I'm quite confident Yale wins it all this year. Write it down, you heard it here first.

5-5 going to overtime. Neither goalie has looked sharp.

Yeah, apparently goaltending was optional in that game...

But, it did make it the most exciting game of the tournament so far.

And required the SWAT to be called in when they were clearing the arena out after the game. Seriously!

Goaltending will be Switzerland's only hope to upset Canada.

Yale will be the worst # 1 seed in the history of ever. Legit # 2 seeds, Michigan, North Dakota, etc will be lined up wishing to play Yale in Bridgeport.

Geesh can we win a few more games first before you anoint us the number one seed. Gonna be a nice home ice in that Bridgeport bandbox, if it happens.

I don't think, based on this last week, that Michigan is a legitimate no 2. more like a number 3.

Keep in mind that Michigan is missing some very good players because of the WJC's and they still managed to win the GLI. They're also up there in the PWR.

They beat Tech, who probably couldn't beat a high school team in either MI or MN, and CC who has been a roller coaster ride. I'm not saying Michigan is not a good team, but let's not pretend winning the GLI was some sort of accomplishment.

A win is a win, no matter who you are playing; and again, they were missing two of the best under 20 year old players in the country.

BC just squeaked by Colgate the other day, so are they not legit either?

Why? I thought the WCHA was the end-all of conferences/teams.

Yale will not only win it this year, they will cakewalk their way through UND and BC in the process, that is unless Mercyhurst knocks one of those two posers out first. You heard it here first. Write it down.
