Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

In case anyone was wondering why they heard some of the crowd boo Etem whenever he touched the puck during the game, it's because he had made some disparaging remarks about Buffalo on his Twitter account, and of course, the locals don't take too kindly to haters of their city.

Some great games, had club level seats.

They made him take that post down. Regardless of how crappy a town may be, not a great idea to do such things while you are still there.

I have not been to Buffalo, so I'll reserve judgement. I have surprisingly enjoyed my time in other rust belt cities, even Cleveland!

Can't go to Buffalo without going to The Anchor Bar for the wings. They are great.

Having some family ties to the city, I find it alright. It has declined, but like any city, there's some places that are nice to check out, and some places you just don't want to go.

I'm glad he took the post down, but I fear he will be booed for the rest of the tournament. One of the few times I've heard a group boo their own team scoring.

Think what Etem would've said if Grand Forks would've been awarded the tournament again! He might have jumped into the Red River.

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

Slovakia's goalie was bad. The D were even worse. The forwards, for the most part, were a bunch of no talent punks. The U.S dominated this game, as they should have.

Some things of concern though. The U.S. is still playing much too individualistic and not as a team. Passing is not crisp and their transition game seems out of sync.

Does anyone else feel that the Defense may be in for a long night against power house teams like Canada and Sweden?

They are okay. I honestly thought they were overrated and I'm from New York so I've had my fair share of wings.

I haven't had Duff's yet.

The Palmieri-Coyle-Krieder line looks pretty in sync. Still, chemistry needs time to build. It happened eventually last year, but wasn't there from the start.

Yes, I agree the US D will be in for a long night against those teams. If I were any team, I would get it deep and attack the D, get their backs to the forecheck. The US have not handled that very well even against these two teams. The passing has not been good either. Add some injuries and I don't like how this is shaping up so far.

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

Wonder if that Slovak will get more than a one game suspension. That hit was about as cheap as it gets.

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

He should definitely be suspended more than one game. What the hell is going through his head that made him decide, "Yeah, elbowing this guy in the head away from the puck right in front of a ref is a good idea"?

No accountability, no fear of retribution. Just read that Kassian got 2 games for his hit. This hit certainly merits a longer suspension.

thanks...I was wondering about that last night

if it's true that Kassian got a 2game suspension than the Slovak kid should be on an airplane as we speak

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

Wow. What a cheapshot. That scumbag should be happy he wasn't taken out on a stretcher. Clear intent and a malicious shot to the head. There's no reason not to just send this kid home right now. The downside to a short international tournament (and age-restricted at that) is that the game can't police itself like it would in any normal league setting. I hope that kid dies of gonorrhea.

A bit surprised to see Kassian get 2 games. That was quite clean of a hit, kept the elbow down, glided in and didn't charge him, etc.
