The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

Re: The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

I know! If it hits 30, I swear I'm gonna drive with my windows down.

To put in perspective for the outsiders, let me remind you that would be a more than 40 degree swing in the last couple days.

And all without going above the freezing mark. Unfreakingreal.

Mother of God, we're supposed to get another 10-15" of snow on Wednesday. I am so ready for winter to be over. Jeebus.

I like how they said last week this storm would miss us. Then it tracked a little to the north...a little more to the north...a little more to the north...

We went from not expecting anything to a few inches ("it's a coastal storm") so that now I expect to turn on the noon news and we're due for another blizzard. The great part about all this is my Godparents live in the shadow of Mt Abram (you can actually see the ski trails from their house) and they keep messaging us "You have more snow than we do!"

Oh, and it's snowing again.

103.7 inches of snow for the year now in Marquette, 37.8 so far during the month of January.

Anyone hear from Al Gore lately? :D

If that was the hottest year ever, they've still got a long ways to go before it is even remotely comfortable outside for more than 5 months of the year.

Because Minnesota is the standard of global climate conditions. :p

Well, I jinxed it and it's supposed to snow tomorrow. We could get up to 3 inches, which in terms of impact converts to a meteor detonation taking out downtown Eden Prairie.

We already lost the dome, we can't lose Winter Park too! They're surely go to LA then!

They've downgraded the 10-15" to 8-12". Yay. And now it will fall late Wednesday and overnight Thursday which will make the commute in Thursday morning such a treat. At least it will be warmer than yesterday whent he T apparently couldn't run at all in the cold.

Ron, I doubt the network is complaining about the lack of an old wooden ship...

Re: The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

In Colesville, MD 7"
No power from 8 PM Weds to 2 PM Thurs. There were earlier attempts to restore power, but everytime the lights came on, a big boom was heard on the main drag and power immediately failed.
Commuter horror stories of 12 hrs to get home after leaving the office @ 2 PM yesterday. Apparently the ice melting stuff was put down, but down came the rains and washed it all away. And then came the sleet and snow.

Re: The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

The original forecast was for nothing. Then they said we might get 1-3" of snow. Then 3-5, then 4-8 and then we could get as much as a foot! Then yesterday the amount started going down again. In the end we may have gotten an inch. I'm beginning to think the meteorologists are just bored and need to make **** up to pass the time...or maybe they're just toying with us.
