Mardi Gras? :)
I wish!

While I am not a fan of cold combined with wind, I am getting tired of the snowing. It seems constant, and it is wearing on me. So I'll take this over it this time around.

Snow usually doesn't bug me as much as it has lately, I think it is just because my car desperately needs snow tires and I refuse to get them halfway through the winter. This will be the last winter without them though. Cripes.
I probably should have been born in Florida or Southern Cal. I love hot weather and dislike being cold. I just tired of the cold weather.

My car needs snow tires as well. Driving while fishtailing around a corner is an art however.

I do that on purpose. :p

I also dislike the cold, but I couldn't live anywhere without 4 actual seasons (cold, cooler, hot as hell, sort of cold)

Chicago better get its **** together by Thursday morning when I'm planning on driving through...

Ahahahahahahahaha.

Good luck with that. I haven't heard a single IDOT or city plow go by the house in the last six hours. And I live just off a state highway in the far West 'Burbs.

Got home tonight where I was just thinking that I would have rather have just stayed at work and sleep on the biomat there. Gunned it up the driveway and just couldn't make it up the incline to the garage to my usual parking spot. Eh, it will have to get moved tomorrow when we plow out.

I was just thinking: The Halloween Blizzard of '91. The Halloween Blizzard, 1989 Chevy Corsica (4-cyl), and I had to work both days. Didn't get stuck, didn't get sent home, didn't get any benefits. If I made it that weekend, anyone can. So suck it, America. Deal with it. :D

Just saying if I had thought about it harder, I would have just crashed at work. Biomats are awesome to sleep on. They're like sleeping on a hug. :D

Some thicker bands apparently still moving up from the southern side of town, but otherwise this thing appears to be blowing its load somewhere else. Maybe 4 inches thus far, though it's hard to take an educated guess with the wind and the drifting.

Re: The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

yup. that was a blizzard.

I spent 90 minutes clearing and still not done. and I have a snowblower. we definitely got over a foot, and I have some lovely 3 foot drifts. I did my neighbor's sidewalk because it was easier than turning around.

I wish we had a snow day.

p.s. I thought the Blizzard of the Decade was going to be Oreo-flavored? It wasn't. :p

Started shoveling out the driveway this morning. An hour later, I pretty much have a path big enough for my car to get out. Except for a four foot strip at the very end of the driveway. I got to that heavier snow, and felt it was a good time to take a coffee break.

Called the boss and told him I'm on a "two-hour" delay right now. But I'll still make it in :D

Haven't heard from the company president. His end of the county is impassable (due to drifting), but I still expect him to drive his F250 in. He grew up in Green Bay, so this is tame to him.

Re: The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

The ice line moved 20 miles north of my house during the night, denying me a well-earned work from home day. :(

Same here. Woke up to see traffic moving normally on the highway near my apartment. Called my company's weather hotline to find we were only delayed until 10, not cancelled. The only trouble was the road out of my complex which was ice. After that, all the main roads were fine.

Although the trees outside my office look pretty.

I live in a condo AND have a snow day! :p

Re: The Winter Weather thread - 2010 - 2011. Shovel this!!

I gather we had something of an ice storm last night. My solution was to not leave for work until 10:30 in the morning, after the worst had already been cleared.
