The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I seem to recall Hakstol-coached teams reaching the Frozen Four many times. I really don't think this will be as big of issue as everyone makes it.

UND has a prob with BC, not the refs.

Too soon?

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Sure I did.....a lot of people (including some UND fans that are 'real' hockey guys) feel the type of games that will be called this weekend will greatly differ from WCHA play. And UND went out of their way to make sure they hit the Huskies in the mouth, and it worked, but the cupcake....err...I mean pure style of play they like out East is not the same. And mark my words, if UND tries to come out w/ that knock you down first style play they'll start a parade to the box and you odds of winning w/ one less skater reduce by a factor of 10

The good news - your coaching staff is smarter than that
The bad news - your fans are not

True. I just remember a few years back some of the mind boggling phantom calls when there was non-WCHA refs calling the games.

look, we as fans don't play the game. I'm sure they players will adjust just fine. Like I said, hasn't stopped them from getting to the Frozen Four numerous times in the past few years.

Here's the thing about the WCHA teams and getting non-WCHA refs. The officiating is SO inconsistent game to game in our league, that teams have learned to adapt to the way a game is called very quickly. They'll figure out what they can and can't do and it won't be as big of an issue as people think it is. EVERY YEAR this comes up, and EVERY year it's a not a big deal.

Yep....and I've forgotten more about hockey than you know. Now is when you come back w/ some other lame post like the above and prove my point (and from my experience it's usually something like "at least my team is still playing"....ya, brilliant). Same for you....unless you're going to counter w/ an actual point like sloe gin you might as well head back to ss.com where nobody contests anything, anyone says.

Give it a rest, already.

You're the Wooger?

UND has a fine track record with their style of play, except when they play BC. I highly doubt they earn legit halos during the NCAA tourney.

Go back to GPL and spew your filth. I know you get a rise out of people responding to you, so I'm done with you.

Class has ended.

It may not a huge issue, but it will be an issue. Especially when one powerplay can end your season. In the case of a physical team like UND, I would bet it's good for one or two penalties per game.

The Sioux (to their credit) have been playing right on the edge of legal and illegal the last couple weeks and seem to pretty much know what the WCHA refs will allow them to get away with. A slight shift to a tighter game could result in quite a few penalties early in the game until they adjust.

EXACTLY!!!!

My opinion is that it WILL be a tightly called contest so everyone needs to stops pinning their hopes and dreams to the how much bigger in stature the Sioux are compared to Yale.

And.....as you state, if it is a tightly called game and UND is forced to adjust (which we've established, they will) it TOTALLY changes the complexion of the game and all of sudden Yale is more than a capable opponent.

Not quite. The Sioux will stick to their physical style, they'll just adjust to a different physical game. You can be a punishing, physical team and do it legally.

Ok ok ok....now my BS detector is going off. Your club is playing well and firing on all cylinders and have some really good players they play well together.....but it's not the 1987 team. Let's not forget.....This UND team is 3-7-1 this year against teams in the tournament. Can they win it all? OF COURSE....will they? I wouldn't bet your money on it.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

UND beat SCSU three times this year alone. Their record is better than 3-7-1 against tournament teams.

You're the first person I've ever heard compare this year's team to the 1987 Sioux team.

Btw, you should post your delusional rants in the thread that's dedicated to these games, retard.

I will say this only once:

Duey is doing the same crap here as he does on GopherPuckLive.
