The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

What's pathetic is a fan of a team whose season was ended by UND endlessly trolling here.

Good point....I've had my fun and besides you guys are like beating up a retarded kid, sure it's funny right away but after a while you start to feel bad.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Pathetic.....

You don't bail on the persona of being the "school yard bully" that you've worked so hard to create just because some obscure beat writer buys into your story and paints a target on your back.
Honorary titles bestowed by bitter Gopher fans won't make any difference.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

so, we're about 30 minutes from puck drop of the tourney...Does anyone think there will be any major upsets like there have been with the bouncyball tourney? Today, if anything were to happen like that, it would be RIT over DU. DU is kind of questionable, last I saw, but I imagine they'll come looking to conduct business in a manner that suits them.

DU beats RIT 5-0 today. You can mark it in the scorecard.

If Cornell sneaks by, the Cornell-DU game figures to be a little closer. Congrats to RIT on their first appearance, but they simply do not match up to this DU team that has basically been the best team in the country all season long.

Last year everyone talked about how BU wasn't playing as well coming into the tourney. They had barely escaped the 1st rd. in Hockey East, then seemed to struggle in the HE tournament, scraping by some games they should have won easily.

People are saying the same about DU this year, but I don't buy it. I saw them with nothing to play for, shorthanded against the Sioux, control play for the last 4-5 minutes of that game.

Not that I disagree, but BU did win its last three games last season by having the puck go in off an opposing player. The Terriers could have just as easily found themselves on the wrong end of a bad bounce. Having a bit of puck luck this time of year never hurts, either.

I will be surprised if DU doesn't get its mojo back and end up in the Frozen Four. In some ways, this season reminds me a lot of the the 2004-05 season.

Last year there were plenty of upsets. No telling what will happen.

Kind of a long shot but if one considers Bemidji a WCHA school there could be an all WCHA frozen four.

Would be nice for Saint Cloud to finally win at least one game.:)
NEG REP WARNING: Don't even ask about Saint Clouds NCAA record. Apparently they are very sensitive about it.

I hate it when I'm right. :D

Well, color me surprised.

I can't say that having one of the major impediments to UND's championship hopes gone is a bad thing, however. :o

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I hope Hak had the boys catch part of that game.

The NCAA hockey tournament is a vastly different animal than it was, even 5 yrs ago. I don't know if we can call it the "Holy Cross effect" or what, but no one seems to have told the 3 and 4 seeds they're underdogs and not as good.

I'm very surprised by this outcome, needless to say.

Listened to the official RIT radio broadcast of the game. The RIT announcers were really excited! On the radio when RIT scored there were cheers when Denver scored silence.

Seemed a bit like the Holy Cross/ Minnesota game. Lots of cheers for the underdog. Denver players much like the gophers didn't seem too excited about the outcome of the game untill late into the third period. Shots on goal were fairly even for most of the game. Two periods of play seemed somewhat boaring. Not real physical. Not many penalties.

But a very exciting third period.

Game Day!! About 6 hours to puck drop!!

Stay focused on the task at hand. Continue to play OUR game and we will be fine.

I've watched 3 of the 4 games thus far (missed SCSU) and there haven't been a lot of penalties, and the majority of the penalties called were deserved.

Also, after listening to Buccigross and Melrose fight in the booth yesterday, I'm glad we don't have them as announcers. Matvik needs a new color guy, he left Matvik hanging a couple times in the Badgers game last night.

There seems to be lots of parity in college hockey the last few years and it is no longer out of the question for a top seed to go down in these one and done type formats.
