The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

The parity in college hockey is much closer than in years past. I think ever since the Holy Cross/UMN game, there are no more "freebie" games in the NCAA tourney any longer. Heck, it's not even a massive deal when a #4 seed makes the F4 anymore (2 of them made it last year). In fact, only one #1 seed made it past the first round last year...the other three all lost to the #4 seed.

Anything can happen, I wouldn't be surprised by any results this weekend, regardless of the "favorite" on paper.

UAH?

I agree, especially when so much depends on goaltending this time of year. Just look at what happened last week. Mike Lee played a phenomenal game for St. Cloud and shut out Wisconsin. The next day, he played a stinker against UND and got yanked.

Even though on paper, the Sioux have a clear edge in overall defense and goaltending, one brilliant performance by Yale's goalie (whoever that turns out to be) could wipe out a solid team performance by the Sioux.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

That sounds good.
Name another WCHA player that you feel is more dynamic then a healthy Genoway. :)

I'm not saying it is an undisputed fact either, I'm just saying that he would easily be at the top or near the top of that list.

First off, I wasn't trying to take anything away from Genoway. He would clearly be near the top of the list.

As far a naming another player who is more Dynamic, I'd go with Rhett Rakhshani. A case could also be made for Brendan Smith and Blake Geffrion as well.

That said, I have no doubt Genoway would be in Hobey final 10 if he was healthy all season. I was simply saying it was rather silly for the author to declare him the "most dynamic player in the WCHA" as if it were fact rather than his biased opinion. Had he said best defenseman in the WCHA at the time of his injury, I would have probably agreed.:)

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I wouldn't be too worried about Yales 3rd line. I haven't seen Zajac lose too many battles on the boards this season or any season for that matter.

Yale might want to be a bit worried about UND's 2nd line though. By the time Malone is finished with them they will all be sleepless for a month hoping the red haired devil is not going to hit them anymore.

Good thing for UND you're not the coach.....that is EXACTLY the mindset that would lose this game for UND. You go out East w/ that Roller Derby hit everything that moves BS you pulled at the Final 5 and you'll spend 60 minutes short-handed.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Couldn't have said it better!!
Don't worry about a penalty or two boys! Just keep doing what you are doing! The rest will take care of itself. And by the way SIOUX SWEEP this little 2 game series this weekend!

There's a far greater chance of UND's third line being the game's "X factor."

I hope Yale's goalie quartet has seen video of Ben Blood crashing the net against Minnesota and SCSU. :D

I know Blood has been rushing the puck up all year but how did he develop this ability in one offseason? It's scary!

Speaking of bit hits I wonder if Lasch will ever try a wrap around again.

Thank you and Rink Pig for creating alternate egos to try and belittle UND. Reading the posts of you and Rink Pig are a daily reminder that your season is over early again, only this year tSioux had the pleasure of dispatching you. Take the hoods of your clubs, grip your narrow shafts, and enjoy the next 7 months of not having to defend uninspired play with the exception of Kangas and Cepis.

Do you ever contribute anything hockey related? Or do you come w/ the typical "sioux rule", "if you don't agree w/ everything we say you are stupid", bit?

See....there are gophers fans just like you, but they're over on GPL.com talking about new cheers/chants and what time of music should be played at games or what kind food they should serve. So why don't you do everyone a favor and take that stuff back to siouxsports where it belongs. Sure, I took a jab in my post....and although mostly in jest I still provided some substance.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Duey does bring up a valid point about the refs that will be used during these games out East. That can make a huge difference in how the game is called and whether or not your shorthanded the whole game or not. WCHA refs allow much more than they do out East and most of the time WCHA teams need to adjust somewhat to the game being called.

I seem to recall Hakstol-coached teams reaching the Frozen Four many times. I really don't think this will be as big of issue as everyone makes it.
