The States: North Dakota is Still the Worst

Re: The States: North Dakota is Still the Worst

I work with a lot of Engineers. Mostly Mechanical. The number one things that I have seen over the years that I find remarkable and counter to progress in the field.

1. The elimination of drafting as a profession. Engineers waste way too much time nowadays on paperwork.
2. An inability for companies to see the difference between manufacturing engineering and design engineering.
3. A massive continued reliance on 2D drawings of both assemblies and parts. With 3D annotation and actually dividing labor between design and manufacturing engineering both of those things are needless and a complete waste of time and money.

Oh, man, software has this problem, too. I've seen huge and theoretically competent companies like Lockheed pawn off their systems engineering onto software "developers" who are really just programmers. Give them a design and they'll execute it, even optimize it. But telling them to design is like telling the typesetter to write the poem.

That's simple. The owner, who did nothing.

And therein lies the problem. Bunch of welfare queens. DO nothing, get handed everything.

My guess is it'll be the ones to come up with the cash to pay for the designs gone wrong, the scaling of the designs that are finally right, and finally, the selling of the product to someone who doesn't really need it.

Who's a good boy?! Who's a good boy???!
Here's a treat for you!

Yeah, I agree. I think my division gets that. I don't think the rest of the company does.

I don't like 2D anymore. I am totally on board with paying for 3D. Saves so much money in the long run. We just started using laser-mapping of our existing fields to get snapshots of our buildings to pull into 3D. It's going to revolutionize how we do projects in old, crowded buildings.

Trumplethinskin is so petty he'd rather support accused child molester Roy Moore than Jeff Sessions for Senate?

Stand proud Conservatives, the spotlight is shining brightly upon yourselves.

We are naturally drawn to those with whom we share common interests. Apparently Dump's sexual predator-to-racist ratio is above 1.0.

This is kind of funny. It's almost exactly the response I would have expected from an engineer. I've never met a group that almost universally considers themselves to be the most underappreciated humans on the planet. Every roommate I had in college was either a chemical or mechanical engineer. I have engineers in my family. I live next to, and am really good friends with, no less than five mechanical engineers who all work for the same company. And all I've heard for 40 years is complaining about how no one appreciates you.

Trust me, we're all happy that when we take a s h ! t it ends up where intended and not in the river. Thank you.

Then you completely misread my post.

Surely Moore isn't the only butthole running for the Republican nom?

Probably not, but then again...

No one cares. Fetus? Care. Actual, living breathing human being that's not white and male? Don't care.

It's just that simple.

The guy who is next in line after Acosta advocated for employer control of worker tips.

We can't satirize Republicans. They're worse than anything we can imagine.
