For the record: Big earthquakes are scary, the aftershocks are worse (mentally).

Even never having been through an earthquake, I can understand this. "Ok, sh* hit, didn't like it, but it's over." *boom* "Wait a second, aftershock............crap, how many more are coming?"

We had one here in April big enough that my work building (all of 3 years old and state of the art) was closed for 2 days for inspections. We were all at home at the time and trees were moving, the McD sign in the distance was swaying, I've never felt anything like that before.

Also I thought there was a drunk in Wisconsin thread but alas...

I was only in a 5ish one in OR. When the glass in the floor-to-ceiling windows at my work began cycling from solid to liquid the rational part of my brain checked out.
