The Church has always put Mary on a pedestal and called her a Queen, telling women to aspire to be like her - never questioning anything, always being obedient to your father and eventually your husband (no matter how disappointing they are), and eagerly bearing the next generation of the flock. For a woman to put anything else ahead of those life goals and directives, is "selfish" behavior.

They also teach men to aspire to marry women who are like that. That's not respect, it's just another form of control. It's the exact behavior of so-called "nice guys" who whine that there are no "good women" left, by which they mean women who will submit to their demands and agree with them on everything.

And this, along with the intelligence of the average human, is how the conservative species is propagated. ;)

Mary was the church's attempt to co-opt local female deities and spirits. Even the ubiquitous statue of Mary in the home is a knockoff of fertility goddess worship.

Leave the poor b-tch alone; it's bad enough she got date raped by the Holy Spirit.

Ah yes, I remember that from my decade of catholic education. Also remember not being allowed to wear pants in the MN winter until about fifth grade- had to wear the skirt!

Holy Mother Church has a terrible record on women, joe. "Godly women are sacred" is a cross between "women are house plants" and "what? How could it be bigoted, I said Jews were good with money, it's a compliment!"

The Madonna/whore nonsense the church teaches about women is fundamentally misogynist. If you can't see that on the face of it I don't know if I can help you further, but maybe talk to any non-Catholic woman on the planet. That sh-t is basically Scientology only more transparently gross.

Most of you seem unaware that in the porn industry men are basically just props with sperm. If there’s any industry where women have at least some notable power it’s definitely porn.

Part of the reason I gave up Church, but not God. I want my women to call me King, and I want to call her Queen. I won't stand for wishy-washy. Call me on my BS, and I will do the same. It's called honesty. I think telling the truth is a thing. I could be mistaken. I want honesty. Period.
