Recently, ads have airing against a state income tax here in Alaska. Who paid for them? Guess who?
Well he has a point about oil. The current price (and volume?) does not help the State treasury.
Once an income tax starts it is a license by the legislature to spend spend spend and tax some more.
It's also a license to actually pay for services the people have and don't want to lose. Like public universities.
Oil could jump to $500/bbl and it wouldn't make a difference. The fact is there's not enough oil being extracted, or to be extracted, to make any long term reliance on oil to be sustainable. So if oil gets back to $100/bbl, does the State kill the income tax?

It's not exactly controlled by Republicans right now. The State Senate is fully controlled by the Rs but the State House is actually controlled by a coalition of Democrats and Moderate Republicans while our Governor is an Independent allied with Democrats. That'd be up to Alaska and its residents. Judging by other states controlled by Republicans, though, they don't seem shy about eliminating taxes, whether it's reasonable to do so or not.
In other news, the Calexit people have been granted the right to collect signatures.
I bet the righties in Washington would love that.
Us liberals NEED California to be part of the US.

You guys are talking like you skipped class during the history lesson between 1861 and 1865. We already had a "disagreement" about this.
the deplorables would be happy to get rid of California. The nutjobs in congress might go along with it, and do you think any of the red states would vote against kissing those libt@rds goodbye?
