If you wanted to dress up as Favor Flav or whatever his name was back when his show was big on MTV, fine. I don't see a problem with that. Wear a big watch necklace, go in whatever clothes he wore. If you wanted to dress up as zombie Michael Jackson, I see no problem with dressing up as him as long as you don't do black face. If you painted your face green or bloody, that's different and almost certainly acceptable.

Going as Whiteface Michael Jackson probably wouldn't go over very well either.

I’m way up in the arctic circle in Finland. A huge French group is here at the same resort.
A French soccer game was on tonight and no less than 7 French people were in full black face.
I’ve no idea why. Guessing soccer but it’s not unusual for French to have racist actions.

The various European nations have many blackface traditions, and they don't view them as being racist, even though they imported it from 19th century American minstrel show. #NPRradio

I didn't listen to the State of the State last night, but from the coverage I heard this morning, Michigan Republican legislators do not care to discuss LGBTQ protection. 'There are other more important issues'

The other bits I heard is that Governor Whitmer has lots of grand ideas and concepts (the ones she campaigned on) but it's still unclear how any of those goals will be met (roads, education).

I don’t recall the name of the GOP state rep, but he said they voted down or didn’t take up a cyber bullying bill based on sexual orientation because “while it’s important that everyone feel safe, it’s also important we don’t infringe upon others religious liberty.”

If redistricting doesn’t fix the makeup of the state legislature, then I don’t see how this state can make any progress.

The Anchorage Daily News with a nice summary of the idiocy of Alaska’s “proposed” budget.

Highlights:
The Department of Education and Early Development would see the second-largest dollar-amount decline. Funding would fall by $320 million, from $1.66 billion to $1.34 billion.

The biggest cut would come in the foundation formula that pays school districts for each student. Funding to the formula drops from $1.2 billion to $942 million in the governor’s plan.

Funding for pre-kindergarten programs drops from $8 million to zero, and funding for Head Start grants is also eliminated.

According to OMB documents, the state would partially offset that increase by shipping 500 inmates to prisons outside the state.

“DOC estimates that can (it) contract with an out-of-state facility with a bed rate at $95.00 per prisoner, per day, with an anticipated transfer of 500 prisoners,” OMB documents state.

Wonder where some campaign donations came from?
State support for the University of Alaska would fall by $134 million (41 percent) under the governor’s plan, from $327 million to $193 million. The university would have the ability to make up that shortfall by raising tuition or finding more grants, but in a presentation Wednesday, university officials said they would have to double tuition to make ends meet under that scenario.

A smaller department by budget, the Department of Environmental Conservation would see its budget fall from $81.3 million to $76.6 million. The governor is proposing the elimination of the Ocean Ranger program, which monitors cruise ships for pollution with fees paid by the ships, and ending inspections of the state’s sole dairy farm.
