The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

It's always a war in the woods. UMaine plays very well at home and the Friars have traditionally struggled up in Orono.
It's one of the best trips that a college hockey fan can make as the fans up there are great, the rink is cool and there is more to do up there on a weekend then most people imagine.

Aside from fellow Friars fans getting auto parts lifted from their vehicles and the fact that the visitors section is directly under the muddy and wet boots of the student body, I've always had a blast up there!

I think that the Friars will split with the Blackbears this weekend but it will be a hard fought split. Alfond is a very difficult place to earn a win but I think that this team is too new to be daunted by Alfond's crowd and the hype of playing at UMaine.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I hear Coach is changing his recruiting from TA's and some players who were recruits no longer are - and vis versa.

Regarding rink alterations, the plans will be completed in late November. Not sure on construction but the School has agreed (Trustees) to pay for it. $1.5M contirbuted so far but this (and the track/soccer complex) are approved.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Good start in the north country a 4 - 4 tie in Maine is a great start.....sounds like the D was slacking a bit but I will take it and go for a W on Saturday

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Power play was pitiful but apart from that I was okay with the weekend. Beaudry was fantastic in the second game--the team didn't wake up until the second period.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

They are still way better than last year and a team to fear as the season goes on.....they will improve and will make the playoffs

New LW recruit up on Heisenburg page:

Starting to look like the Italian national team.

Nick Saracino is a 5'10" center/wing who is leading the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in points so far this season. He's a 1992 birthday and from St. Louis.

Staff is bringing in a lot of guys for next year...

Friars need to get back in the win column tonight. They played well up in Maine, just came up short in both games. 2 points would be fine this week, 3 or 4 points would be a bonus.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

They will earn at least a split if they play with the same fire that they had during their first two home stands.
Vermont is not as strong as they have been in the recent past and the Friars have played quite well at home this season. I'm loving their stye this season and their hustle. I'll be shocked if they don't earn at least a split this weekend. Hope to see some of you there.

Go Friars

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I like the positive vibe on this thread. (Hokydad take note.) I am hopeful to get to a game soon.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

No Demopoulus tonight per the box score. He's been playing great so can't imagine he's a healthy scratch. Anyone know what happened? Hope its nothing serious as that first line has looked really good.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

So the GameTracker has been stuck (for me) for the entire 3rd period.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Nice win for PC. Snaps UVM's 9 game unbeaten string against the Friars. Go Friars!
