The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

It is fun watching PC at the Garden with Rooney, Army and Velischeck in the line up. :)

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Friar season may be over but I have never been so proud to wear my PC Jersey as I now am......I am so proud of what these kids have done this year when many thought they would be just a so - so team they proved everyone wrong.......Thanks to the seniors for not quitting and for their leadership their entire career and for the class and skill of Derek Army who could have left but stayed and showed us all what he is made of.....Alex Beaudry stepped up and showed us all what a great net-minder he is and lastly what a great signing by Bob Driscoll is Nate Leaman and his entire crew......PC Hockey is alive and well again

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Put up a hell of a fight tonight. I was never really at ease, like I have been for many a BC games this year, tonight. PC has a bright future that I am not looking forward to as a BC fan.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

At the start of the year simply qualifying for the playoffs would have been considered a success. To make it to Boston and give BC a good game is is certainly something to be happy about. For the first time in a long time I feel PC is on the right road to reclaiming its place among the top tier of Hockey East. Rebuilding takes time and it will likely take a few years. Nate Leaman has shown he has the right stuff. (His former Union team will be playing for the ECAC title tomorrow.) I am looking forward to next year.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Amazing season. The most fun I've had in my three years as a Friar. I can't wait for my senior year.

Leaman did an excellent job with what he had out there IMO. Loved the aggressive style of play yesterday. Obviously they're not on the same level as BC but they hung in there and put up a good fight. To me it looks like they're a couple of goal scorers and a #1 goaltender away from really being a legit contender for the top 4. Obviously that doesn't just show up overnight, but it's definitely encouraging to finally get out of the 1st round of the playoffs (agreed with you Cav they got a break drawing UML), go up to Boston and really put in a solid showing. Like you said Cav, that next step might prove to be more difficult than what Leaman accomplished this year, but they finished the last two weekends strong after struggling for a prolonged period when, at times, it looked like they were playing out the string again (which the coach even admitted to).

Either way, good stuff and something to build on -- FINALLY. :)

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

A solid first step to getting this program back to where it belongs. It was great to see so many Friar jerseys around the Garden yesterday. Great job by this senior class to rally together to get the ship heading in the right direction. I can't wait for October.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Good game by the friars, hopefully the friars will build on their performance in this season and in the Hockey East tournament, four thrilling, intense games. Kudos to those that planned the pregame and postgame event for friar fans, the place was jumping.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Time to close this thread.....Hockey is back at PC, born again thanks to hard work and a new leader

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Great step forward by the entire team for all the reasons previously mentioned!!! Great job by Coach Leaman, his staff and the players!!!

Welcome to the party palmettofriar!

On to the next PC thread.........

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

I'm looking forward more to next year's PC hockey season than I am to the Walking Dead.

One questions - although I'm sure Cav covered this a week agao - who will be our goalie next year with Beaudry gone?
