The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Hey 91 after the last ten years I'm happy to get any votes. I think it takes some time for the voters to believe a program has really turned a corner. Don't forget that the last coach got off to a good start as well. And then the funny business began. I am more optimistic this time around. Just sayin....

;) I'm with you. I totally agree that any votes are good at this point.

I just hate seeing some of these teams getting votes when have poor records and they've lost to struggling teams while PC's losses have come at the hands of UMD and two close losses in Orono.

Hope to see you the next time that you are in town stranger.:)

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Getting two wins last week was good. That being said, I am glad to get back to a Hockey East opponent. UAH was a bad team and not an enjoyable foe to watch. Looking forward to NU coming in just to see good hockey once again. Go Friars!

NU sucks on paper thus far with only one win but if you look closer it's clear that they have lost close games and have played tough. I'm glad that another HE team is coming to Schneider as well instead of UAH caliber opponents. This is Hockeyeast and the Huskies are going to play the Friars tough. Tonight's result could go either way but it will be a good game regardless.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

These stories are always sad.....where did he get hit, sounds like the heart area, that has happened a few times in Little League Baseball and there is little that can be done to protect against it

I heard he was hit in the neck and went into cardiac arrest. It's sad this happened in MA to a 12yr old a few years back. USA Hockey had a mandatory neck guard requirement but I believe repealed that a couple of years ago.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Did anyone else read the article in the projo today? VERY telling about the last 5 years.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Hmmm, the game tracker is stuck in pregame mode. USCHO.COM shows no score. I feel like I'm stuck in the twilight zone. If anyone knows the score, please post. Meanwhile, I'm going back to watch Pooley and the ND team play BC.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

5-2 northeastern. @friarshockey and @pcfriarfaithful provide good game updates on twitter

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

PC looked horrid....game started with a NE score via a partial breakaway shot thru 5 hole followed next by a shot everyone should stop a 20 foot shot over the catching glove with no one blocking Beaudrys view.....new netminder and he gives up a 5 hole from the point that was a 50/50 as far as stopping it, the 4th goal was a great shot back against the movement and I can't fault the goalie on it....Shaller had a penalty shot and really was no threat as he skated in rather slow and shot it right at the catching glove.....end of the 2nd period and I left 4-1 NE and the PC team that has been skating the last month left before me, yesterday I think......definitely the worse game they have played this year

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

So after all the good things said about the team and probably my only free weekend night this season I decided to check out the new team. Well I didn't see anything good except the figure skating team. That was awful hockey tonight, no flow nothing exciting except the penalty shot. I don't remember seeing PC have a penalty shot there iin all the years I had gone. I must say what the he$$ kind of shot was that. a wrist shot from about the top of the circle right into the chest. A mite goalie could have stopped it. No move, deek or anything. It looked like the last 5 years tonight.

Wish the team well and hope the bad game is out of them for a while.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

The best thing was meeting 91 and his son tonight. Other than that YAAAAAAAAWWWWN

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

By far, PC's worst game. If you didn't know the records and judged the teams by this game, NU seemed the far better team. NU dominated possession of the puck the entire game and was the superior skating team. PC is better than they played and I'm sure they'll bounce back next game. Shakey goaltending maybe caused the flat performance. Decent size crowd tonight.

The third goal was a deflection that Gates had no chance on....

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

At least they only have one game this week so I am sure practice will be he$$

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

One positive I take out of this bad game is Ross mauerman's game. Ross seems to get better every game. His speed is very good and for a small guy has very powerful moves. Last night in the first period he came down the right wing, blew by the defenseman like he was a pilon and cut in to goal lifting a shortside shot that had Rawlinson beat. Unfortunately it hit the inside of the post and went to the far corner.
