The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

They said it wasn't spread in the air and now they are saying it is.

I'd like to see a cite for this, because articles I'm finding through Google that are only hours old still say otherwise.

I'm sure there are people saying it could become airborne if it mutates, as other strains have, but I've seen nothing to support an assertion that this particular strain is airborne.

I think you are right on that, CDC spokesman said it could, not that it has as of yet.

So then by your own definition does that make you clueless since you said one thing and are now saying another?

No offense since I am sure you are like a medical genius and all, but I will trust he people who are learned and study diseases over you.

Never claimed to be any kind of genius but the CDC has known about this Ebola outbreak for many months. They claim the US is ready for it. One patient comes in off the street and already their is a transmission of Ebola to a caregiver. Nurses across the country are claiming they aren't being trained nor are they getting the proper safety equipment. Doesn't sound like we are ready to me.

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Sure thing...one question though if Ebola isnt passed in the air what training do nurses need? It isnt like they dont know how to deal with the sick or bleeding.

Clearly, the PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) that they use when dealing with Ebola patients is not exactly standard issue - there must be some training involved.

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Fox News accusing the CDC of being the "Coalition for Deception and Coercion" was their signature moment. They'd yell fire in a crowded theater if they could fan Obama derangement and move a few more catheters.

from what I read, the nurse who contracted Ebola brushed her cheek with the outside of her hazmat suit when she was removing it.

I had to wear a hazmat suit and respirator a few times, and they are not that easy to remove without touching the outside anywhere while you are taking them off.

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Can they decontaminate? Would spraying down help? These are honest questions cause I dont know.

I had the same thought. Seems like there should be a step that aims to reduce the contamination on the outside of the suit before taking it off.

Fire? A bit drastic and you have a whole bunch of problems with the workers.

Seriously - chemical showers? The Army has (had?) a complete set of protocols dealing with biological weapons. Why not use them?

Yeah, I was wondering why they can't step into some sort of bleach/water shower in a decontamination room before taking off the suits. Then again, it's not likely that all hospitals have such rooms or equipment.

Heck they were spraying something on the sidewalks going into the first victims home

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Closed 2 schools in Cleveland , the 2nd nurse and her plane ride I guess is the reason for this. Apparently she had called the CDC to say she had symptoms and they didn't tell her not to fly( I think she should have known already she shouldn't fly but..). Yup the CDC is all over this

People use public transport with varying illness all the time. No one has regard for others, only themselves.

We're going to wind up walking around with masks like the Japanese.

Not that it would be a bad idea; but it isn't going to affect Ebola.
