Re: The Power of the SCOTUS VIII - I am certiorari we'll be arguing until Thanksgivin

Is there any precedent for a Senate openly admitting that the confirmation process won't be about the nominee(s), but about who's making the nominations?

Not for the Court.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS VIII - I am certiorari we'll be arguing until Thanksgivin

If the GOP blocks the nomination process, they better hope they win in November. Because Obama is likely to nominate a moderate knowing that's all that could get through.

If Hillary or Bernie wins after the GOP holds up the nomination process for a year under the guise of "giving the American people a chance to weigh in," they're gonna get the liberalist lib that ever libbed, and they'll have to confirm.

If Hillary wins and it's still open, she should nominate Bill. I mean, the stench from the bodies after the mass suicides will be bad for a couple months, but after that it shouldn't be too bad.

Too old.

Nominate Chelsea.

I like the idea that Obama just nominate Hilary.

He's been stripped of his standing with the Court. Joking aside, could someone with Bill's stripped standing actually be nominated to the Court?

Well, since McConnell has already turned it political, might as well nominate a nice liberal Mexican justice.

Sitting on the nomination in the Senate is a great way to get lazy liberals to actually vote if they don't "love" their nominee out of fear of Trump/Cruz etc. taking their rights away. So McConnell shoots his d!ck off in the first two hours. What else can you expect out of the man who made Obama a one term president.

Think to yourself, "Trump nominee."

That alone should kill Trump.

When I heard the tweet and didn't hear who it was, I knew it was that piece of **** Cruz. What a ******.

As he should. Regardless of what the Republicans think, their partisan advantage is not a recognized Constitutional principle.

Saint Ronny's nomination of Anthony Kennedy was passed in his final year in office, 97-0.

I'll miss Scalia. I agreed with him maybe 25-30% of the time, but the SCOTUS lost its firebrand today.

All of us could use a little more of this in our politics (my apologies to St. Clown for the embedded Tweet :p):

Depends who BHO nominates, doesn't it? If he goes batpoop crazy then no. If he goes like a Kennedy, I'll cross my fingers.

It should depend on who. But, so far, the GOP is signaling that it doesn't matter.

As they have towards everything running on 7-8 years now. It's the "Take our ball and go home" party now.
